And this part from my first source?Eli Lake, the Bloomberg View columnist who wrote the report, noted in his piece that “some intelligence value” is required for senior officials to request that U.S. persons’ names be unmasked, and that as a result, Rice’s alleged requests were “likely within the law.”
The intelligence reports in question were primarily summaries of conversations between foreign officials discussing the Trump transition, as well as communications between Trump staffers and foreign officials being monitored by the U.S. government, according to Lake’s reporting.
Got that Puss?On Sunday night, far-right blogger and conspiracy theorist Mike Cernovich published a post claiming (without citing sources) that former Obama administration National Security Advisor Susan Rice had requested the names of the Trump staffers caught in NSA surveillance of Russian figures.
The next day, Bloomberg's Eli Lake published a story alleging that Rice's request for unmasking was discovered in NSA logs by a Trump staffer.
According to Lake, it was likely these reports were given to Nunes, sparking his briefing to the press on March 22.
The story was quickly picked up by a slew of right-wing media sites as "proof" that Trump was right about the wiretapping — and that the Obama administration had been conspiring to spy on Trump and gather damaging intelligence on his campaign.
Even Lake's story for Bloomberg, which is the most mainstream exposure the story has received, maintains that "Rice's requests to unmask the names of Trump transition officials do not vindicate" Trump's accusations of wiretapping.

In the wake of a report from The New York Times regarding the sexual harassment of female employees by cable news host Bill O'Reilly, Mercedes-Benz has pulled advertising from his Fox News show, The O'Reilly Factor.
According to CNN Money, Mercedes explained that the advertisements were "reassigned" amid the controversy, and that the allegations are "disturbing" and don't reflect the automaker's view of the importance of women.
Five cases totaling roughly $13 million have been settled regarding sexual harassment or verbal abuse by O'Reilly, according to The Times.
His show has been on air for nearly 20 years and is one of the most profitable shows on Fox News.
The show generated $446 million in ad revenue between 2014 and 2016.
While Mercedes-Benz may be the first company to pull ads, it may not be the last.
Lexus also currently has ads airing during the show, and told CNN Money that it will monitor and evaluate the situation as it develops.

The Media Gives Short Schiff to Obamagate
GEORGE NEUMAYR
Once a story starts hurting the Dems, reporters drop it.
.....How did we find out about Susan Rice’s role in Obamagate? Not from the mainstream media at first, but from a pro-Trump blogger named Mike Cernovich, who says he found out about the Rice story from a disgruntled staffer at a publication unwilling to publish it. In other words, he pulled a Matt Drudge. On Sunday night, Cernovich wrote that he had “been informed that Maggie Haberman has had this story about Susan Rice for at least 48 hours, and has chosen to sit on it in an effort to protect the reputation of former President Barack Obama.”
Haberman works at the New York Times....
The partisan gall of the media is impossible to overstate here. After Trump’s tweets, reporters hectored him for having “no proof” of spying and demanded that he furnish them with it. Now that he and Devin Nunes give them proof, they suddenly don’t want it — and accuse them of political espionage....
Eli Lake, the columnist for Bloomberg who reported on the Rice revelation (Cernovich says that Bloomberg also sat on the story until he broke it), said to the displeasure of the comically biased Katy Tur, “This is troubling what happened here.” That is not what Tur wanted to hear. She quickly tried to change the subject and later made the preposterous argument that the focus on Susan Rice helps Russia.

Former President Barack Obama’s national security adviser Susan Rice ordered U.S. spy agencies to produce “detailed spreadsheets” of legal phone calls involving Donald Trump and his aides when he was running for president, according to former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova.
“What was produced by the intelligence community at the request of Ms. Rice were detailed spreadsheets of intercepted phone calls with unmasked Trump associates in perfectly legal conversations with individuals,” diGenova told The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group Monday.
“The overheard conversations involved no illegal activity by anybody of the Trump associates, or anyone they were speaking with,” diGenova said. “In short, the only apparent illegal activity was the unmasking of the people in the calls.”
Other knowledgeable official sources with direct knowledge and who requested anonymity confirmed to TheDCNF diGenova’s description of surveillance reports Rice ordered one year before the 2016 presidential election.

Trump Pulls Back Obama Era Protections For Women Workers
On March 27, Trump revoked the 2014 Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces order then-President Barack Obama put in place to ensure that companies with federal contracts comply with 14 labor and civil rights laws.
The Fair Pay order was put in place after a 2010 Government Accountability Office investigation showed that companies with rampant violations were being awarded millions in federal contracts.
ANd for the rest of story:
I don't know how Joseph diGenova would know anything about what the overheard conversations were about, but I haven't heard anyone say that they involved illegal activity by Trump associates, so why is he even arguing that the conversations were perfectly legal?
Conservative talk show host Charlie Sykes, no lefty, calls this a distraction.Susan Rice Did Her Job—and Boy Are Republicans Pissed
A report that originated in the alt-right sewer leads a GOP senator to slur Rice as “the Typhoid Mary of the Obama administration.”
It’s been a day since Bloomberg’s Eli Lake reported allegations that former National Security Advisor Susan Rice asked to “unmask” the identities of certain Trump transition officials captured in intelligence reports, and the right is calling for her head.
This is the story that was leaked by White House officials to House Intelligence Committee chair Devin Nunes, you’ll recall.
The unmasked Trump people weren’t intelligence targets themselves, but were talking to foreign officials who were.
In Lake’s telling, it was Rice who allegedly asked intelligence agency leaders to reveal the names of Trump officials, which are normally “masked” to protect US citizens caught in foreign intelligence gathering.
Senator Rand Paul claimed Lake had identified the “smoking gun” that validated Donald Trump’s claims that the Obama administration was “spying on” him.
Of course, it was no such thing; even Lake reported that what Rice was alleged to do was neither a crime nor evidence of Trump’s ludicrous claim.
Security officials went further: former CIA director John McLaughlin told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that Rice was just “doing her job.”
But this isn’t the first time Paul has gone after Rice.
She was the designated fall gal in Part One of the GOP’s Benghazi freakout, after she went on the Sunday shows shortly following the 2012 attack and, using a series of talking points developed by the CIA in collaboration with the State Department, shared information that later turned out to be untrue, particularly that the attack was “spontaneous.”
Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham led the attack on Rice, and the controversy ultimately blocked her from succeeding Clinton as Secretary of State.
But in 2013, when Obama made her his National Security Advisor—a job that did not require Senate approval—Rand Paul tweeted: “I really question the President’s judgment in promoting someone who was complicit in misleading the American public on the Benghazi attacks.”
So Republicans now have their favorite scapegoat back in the stocks.
On Tuesday, Senator Lindsay Graham accused her of previously leaking classified information: “She’s done it in the past, and whether or not she’s done it this time I don’t know, but it’s certainly something Congress should look into.”
Senator Tom Cotton called Rice the “Typhoid Mary of the Obama administration,” a revoltingly sexist slur that also referred back to her role in the Benghazi investigation.
Almost unbelievably (but not quite), Donald Trump Jr. gave credit for the scoop not to Eli Lake, but to the right-wing hitman Mike Cernovich, white supremacist, rape denier and Pizzagate conspirator who first reported on Rice’s alleged involvement. Trump Jr. tweeted:
It’s like tweeting Pepe the frog.
Oh wait, young Donald already did that.
In her first interview since the attack, Rice told MSNBC’s Mitchell the claims against her were “absolutely false” on Tuesday.
She explained the process Lake had described only sketchily: every morning, top security officials were given a list of noteworthy intelligence reports.
According to Rice, occasionally such an official would ask the head of the intelligence agency that provided the data to “unmask” an unidentified American “in order to understand the importance of the report,” and if there was a threat.
When that happened, the agency had “to go through its process…to decide if that information as to the identity of that U.S. person could be provided” to the official in question, sometimes Rice herself.
She made such requests, she told Mitchell, “absolutely not for any political purpose,” and added, “I leaked nothing to nobody, and never have, and never would.”
So now, a report that originated in the sewers of the alt-right with a Pizzagate conspirator who believes in “white genocide” is being widely propagated on the right, and investigated by mainstream media outlets, who are mostly debunking it, to their credit.
The problem is the right’s affection for fake news, but also for racism and sexism.
The mere person of Susan Rice has always engaged the right; she’s long been depicted as incompetent, as a liar and now, a purveyor of disease.
“Typhoid Mary” wasn’t black, but an Irish immigrant, the next on the totem pole back then (though Mary Fallon did indeed spread the disease; the charge against Rice is false and offensive.)
“Susan Rice is radioactive to the conservative Republican base,” MSNBC commentator Charlie Sykes admitted Tuesday, adding she is the perfect distraction for Trump from troublesome allegations his campaign “coordinated” with Russian government officials to defeat Hillary Clinton.
It’s not hard to understand why she galls the GOP base; let’s hope the media recognizes this as the distraction it is from the real story of Trump and Russia.
The president's son thinks PizzaGate conspiracy theorist Mike Cernovich should win the Pulitzer.
On Tuesday, the son of the president of the United States suggested that an alt-right blogger who promotes conspiracies like "white genocide" and PizzaGate should "win the Pulitzer."
Donald Trump Jr. tweeted his praise of the media personality Mike Cernovich after crediting Cernovich with "breaking" the story that former President Barack Obama's national security adviser, Susan Rice, asked intelligence agencies to "unmask" the names of Trump transition officials caught up in foreign surveillance.
Cernovich further alleged Rice then sent the unmasked names to a handful of top intelligence officials.
Cernovich is widely criticized, having also promoted the beliefs that "date rape does not exist," "misogyny gets you laid," and black women should be "slut shame[d]" to prevent them from getting AIDS.
Additionally, Rice's alleged actions appear to be legal, and an unidentified "person close to Rice" told CNN on Monday night that Rice never "improperly sought the identity of Americans," adding: "There is nothing unusual about making these requests when serving as a senior national security official, whether Democrat or Republican."
Observers have slammed the Trump White House for promoting Cernovich's "story," with Kellyanne Conway tweeting a Cernovich blog post Monday and calling his appearance on 60 Minutes a "must-see ratings bonanza."
This goes far, far beyond just DeGenova. Many members of the permanent intelligence community are really p***ed off at Obama officials' abuse of power.Misty » 04 Apr 2017 1:42 pm » wrote:

If it's part of a plan to illegally leak, then she was involved in a criminal conspiracy. And he apparently does not know that unmasking is not illegal.
When anyone asks for a name to be unmasked it goes through a detailed legal process and there is a written record kept of who requested the unmasking.
Susan Rice also lied on at least five networks that the Benghazi attack was caused by a video, and she lied a couple months ago in claiming she knows nothing about this.Susan Rice has denied that there were any spreadsheets created.
She was on Andrea Mitchell's show today.

The ONLY CRIMES we know of are the felonies in leaking classified information about Trump officials. She did not allege that there was any illegal activity by Trump associates overheard.
In fact she would not reveal much of anything, because it is classified.
It seems like the people trying to deflect from the Russia investigations by attacking the Obama administration are the ones now leaking a lot of classified info.
