Agreed. Just fund it, since it is in fact the only government service specifically mandated in the Constitution. It would actually be turning a profit right now if it was not required to pre-fund 75 years worth of health benefits in a ten year window, something which no other business or entity has ever been forced to do.The 2006 law was designed to bankrupt the USPS with the goal of privatizing it.No private company is going to deliver mail to rural areas at a loss, like the USPS is required to do.But if you live in a rural area, fear not, Clem is going to pick up your mail and bring it to you.Misty: The private sector cannot be forced to deliver mail to rural areas at a loss, like the Postal Service is obligated by law to do.People in rural areas will not be served by the private sector.Bulls***. If worse came to worse, it would be delivered in bulk to an area, divided into large parcels, and neighbors would help each other out. Wow, it'd be really tough for me to drive half a mile, pick up my mail and that of my neighbors a few times a week, right? The idea that Americans can't manage to get their own mail or help others is utterly absurd, leftist psychosis.Of course that probably wouldn't be legal. LOLClem is all for private companies reaping the profits, while we have to somehow manage to get our own mail. That sounds like corporate welfare.

It being profitable is of little concern to me; it's a vital service, which provides unmatched value; door-to-door for 46 cents. And every nation has a postal service, which businesses rely on, government needs to communicate with citizens and citizens need as a low cost way of sending original documents. Plus it's in the Constitution. Bankrupt it and it still must be a service we provide.

LOL You totally miss the irony that it is illegal for Americans to help each other by delivering their neighbor's mail. I'll bet blind the political clout of the Post Office got that law passed. Clem is all for private companies reaping the profits, while we have to somehow manage to get our own mail. That sounds like corporate welfare. Competition is "corporate welfare?" Lie much? The reality is, greedy, overpaid, generally lazy unionized Post Office employees have lined their pockets at Americans' expense. Then leftist postal workers like you bleat dishonestly about corporate welfare when competition threatens you.

You totally miss the irony that it is illegal for Americans to help each other by delivering their neighbor's mail.I can't believe the stupidity that comes out of your mouth (fingers) sometimes.Maybe you live in Mayberry USA, but I spent most of my life in a large city (NYC) and I assure you that I did not want my neighbors to deliver my mail, or go anywhere near my mail.I barely knew a lot of my neighbors, and I should trust them with my mail?I get about 5 or 6 pre-approved credit card applications in the mail every week. I really want my neighbors to get hold of those.People get a lot of sensitive materials in their mail like bank or credit card statements, not to mention checks. That's why tampering with the mail is a federal offense.I have never heard of anything so off the wall, as having neighbors delivering each other's mail. You have really out crazied yourself this time.I'll bet blind the political clout of the Post Office got that law passed. If the Postal Service had so much political clout then the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006 (PAEA), that forces them to pre-fund 75 years worth of benefits in a ten year window, would never have passed.FYI the USPS's statutory monopoly on access to letter boxes was enacted into law in the Postal Code of 1872.And is has been upheld by the SCOTUS.The reality is, greedy, overpaid, generally lazy unionized Post Office employees have lined their pockets at Americans' expense. Those lazy postal workers manage to sort and deliver 660 million pieces of mail a day.Or maybe you think it gets done by the mail fairy? If you had to work one day (or night) in the Post Office, you would not think they are overpaid.Idiots like you think the Postal Service only consists of letter carriers and window clerks. You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes.I worked overnights, weekends and holidays for years, under less than ideal and even sub-par conditions. While you were sleeping I was working hard to make sure that you got your mail in the morning.Your contempt for the American worker is duly noted, Puss.I have never seen you lament over the fact that CEO's are lining their pockets at the expense of the American worker through low wages and the taxpayers through corporate welfare. The average Walmart employee would have to work 785 years to earn the CEO's annual salary. That seems fair doesn't it?

I barely knew a lot of my neighbors, and I should trust them with my mail? Speaking of stupid, you were complaining about supposed lack of delivery in sparsely populated rural areas if the Post Office went under or was privatized. I responded that people would help each other, which stunningly would be illegal. So WTC are you babbling about? The reality is, greedy, overpaid, generally lazy unionized Post Office employees have lined their pockets at Americans' expense. Those lazy postal workers manage to sort and deliver 660 million pieces of mail a day. Or maybe you think it gets done by the mail fairy? Which completely ignores my point about them being greedy, overpaid, slow and generally lazy. The private sector could deliver mail for likely half the price if allowed, and do it better. Your contempt for the American worker is duly noted, Puss. Most American workers are well trained, motivated, hard working. I've never, ever condemned American workers, except with a few exceptions. Lie much? I complain about government workers, too many of who are greedy, overpaid, slow and generally lazy.

"I told President Obama," he said, "that this was the latest, grandest example of the eternal struggle of former presidents to rewrite history." Truer words were never spoken. You're citing Clinton as a credible source? Who would believe anyone as sociopathically dishonest as Clinton, who told huge lies about anything and everything, whose top aide stole documents to hide his culpability about 9/11? Who dishonestly took credit for things he opposed? And quoted by someone who has spent years re-writing the Clinton presidency and dishonestly trying to credit him for Repub economic policy. Who dishonestly covered up his felonies, impeachable acts, rapes, lies, ad infinitum. I couldn't watch the coverage of the opening of the George W. Bush shrine yesterday. It turned my stomach to see a war criminal being celebrated and to see that stupid smirking face of his once again. It makes me sick to think that even one penny that I pay in taxes will go to operate that whitewashed sham. He shouldn't be celebrated, he should have to face a Nuremberg type trial. Translated into non-moonbat English; Bush did what any responsible president would have done to keep the country safe. Get some mental health care, moonbat.

FAA Furlough Bill Passes House To Ease Air Travel DelaysLawmakers passed a bill Friday to ease air traffic delays before catching their own flights home for a week off, leaving unchanged other painful effects of the across-the-board spending cuts mandated by Congress' sequestration law. While the legislators likely improved their chances for on-time flights when they return to work next month, cuts that are harming care for cancer patients, closing children out of preschool and ending food programs for the elderly remain in place. The sequester's knife has already slashed other programs. But faced with an outcry from the flying public over delays caused by sequester-related furloughs at the Federal Aviation Administration, the Senate acted Thursday night and the House followed suit Friday, voting 361 to 41 to give the FAA budget flexibility otherwise barred by the sequester law. The legislation allows the agency to move up to $253 million from construction accounts to operations accounts to keep air traffic controllers on the job.President Barack Obama still has to sign the measure.Read more at link in title. So these Congress critters can manage to get together and pass legislation when they and their rich cronies friends are affected. But cancer patients, and hungry children and old people can suck wind.John Boehner said he got over 98 percent of what he wanted in the sequester law, and now he's whining because he can't get to the golf course fast enough.Shame on you President Obama if you sign this bill.

Shame on you President Obama if you sign this bill. Oh gosh, another Democrat Talking Point Lie from a DNC shill. In fact, Obama and the FAA are to blame for the delays, the FAA admitting it explicitly. Both want to hurt the public for the tiny spending cuts in the sequester, and Obama intends to dishonestly blame Repubs during the 2010 election season. The House tried to give Obama flexibility to cut waste, not necessary services, and he said he'd veto it. Go ahead, tell your lies.

Mississippi High School Sued For Forcing Students To Attend Religious Assembly A high school in central Mississippi finds itself in court after allegedly holding a mandatory religious assembly earlier this month. According to the lawsuit, which was filed by the American Humanist Association on Wednesday, students were given no advance notice about the nature of the assembly, but were told that attendance was required. It soon became clear, however, when a member of Pinelake Baptist Church opened his presentation by talking about finding hope in Jesus Christ. The assembly allegedly also warned students against premarital sex, pornography, and homosexuality. As the lawsuit detailed, the program included a video of four speakers explaining how their troubled lives had been saved by Christianity: The first speaker talked about his addiction to pornography. The second speaker talked about issues with his father. The third speaker also talked about problems with his family,as well as promiscuity and suicide. The fourth speaker said he had a great family that introduced him to the church. He said at first he did not think he could measure up to Jesus Christ so he sought hope in other things. The first speaker said he used to find hope in cars and clothes. The second said he used to find hope in people and in other guys. He looked to these people for brotherly love and fatherly love. He said he then struggled with suicidal thoughts, and resorted to cutting himself. [...] About five minutes into the video, Speaker One stated: But now I find my hope in something thats more eternal that is not in this world. In turn, each of the speakers explained how turning to Jesus Christ solved their problems and recommended that other people turn to Jesus Christ as well. Soon after, the assembly immediately turned into a full-blown lecture on the supposed miracles, powers, and teachings of Jesus Christ and the Church Representative encouraged all students to find sanctity in him, and no one was permitted to leave. The Schools truancy officer, Jeff White (Officer White), harassed several students who attempted to leave and told them to sit back down, read the complaint. According to the complaint, the school repeated the same assembly for 11th graders on April 10. A few juniors had been tipped off that it would be a religious assembly and attempted to go to the library or another classroom instead but they were prevented from doing so by Officer White. A third mandatory assembly was held this Monday for 10th graders, the suit alleges. The Supreme Court ruled more than 50 years ago in Engel v Vitale that school-led prayer is an unconstitutional infringement on the First Amendments Establishment Clause, a decision they reaffirmed in the 1992 case Lee v. Weisman. No stinkin' separation of church and state in red state Mississippi.

Mississippi High School Sued For Forcing Students To Attend Religious Assembly No stinkin' separation of church and state in red state Mississippi. Wow, I won't be able to sleep tonight. Of course, if we didn't have failing Government Monopoly Schools, Americans could send their children to the school of their choice, religious or otherwise. Meanwhile, more information to refute the Democrat Talking Point Lie that Bush is stupid. Shortly after Barack Obama was elected in 2008, a fellow reporter who’d covered President George W. Bush all eight years told me she’d had enough of the travel and stress and strain of the White House beat, that she was moving on. We reminisced about all the places we’d been, all the crazy days and wild nights, all the history we’d seen — first hand. Just before we said our goodbyes, I asked her if she’d miss covering President Obama.“Not at all. He’s an inch deep. Bush is a bottomless chasm, a deep, mysterious, emotional, profound man. Obama is all surface — shallow, obvious, robotic, and, frankly, not nearly as smart as he thinks. Bush was the one.” Her words, so succinct, have stuck with me ever since. By the way, she’s a hardcore Democrat. http://www.washingto.../#ixzz2RhEKpkpq

Members Of Congress Introduce Legislation Based On Fringe Conspiracy TheoryTwo Republican members of Congress introduced legislation on Friday that would limit the amount of ammunition the government is able to purchase at a given time. The bill is a response to far-right conspiracy theories that the government is 'stockpiling' ammunition, either to wage a war against the American people or to dry up the ammunition market so average citizens can't buy bullets.Rep. Frank Lucas (R-OK), and Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) will put forth the Ammunition Management for More Obtainability Act (or, AMMO) Act in both the House and Senate. The bill would require executive branch agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to maintain ammunition levels below the average monthly amounts that the agencies had before Obama took office.According to a joint press release from Lucas and Inhofe, "The legislation would require the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a report on the purchasing of ammunition by federal agencies, except the Department of Defense, and its affect on the supply of ammunition available to the public":"President Obama has been adamant about curbing law-abiding Americans' access and opportunities to exercise their Second Amendment rights," said Inhofe. "One way the Obama Administration is able to do this is by limiting what's available in the market with federal agencies purchasing unnecessary stockpiles of ammunition. As the public learned in a House committee hearing this week, the Department of Homeland Security has two years worth of ammo on hand and allots nearly 1,000 more rounds of ammunition for DHS officers than is used on average by our Army officers. The AMMO Act of 2013 will enforce transparency and accountability of federal agencies' ammunition supply while also protecting law-abiding citizens access to these resources."For members of Congress whose interests have generally aligned with those of gun and ammunition manufacturers, this legislation isn't smart economics; limiting the ability of the government to buy ammunition will remove a key consumer, drying up demand and causing manufacturers to take a sales hit. Similarly, Lucas and Inhofe's claim that the government "limits what's available in the market" if it buys up more ammunition reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of basic economics. If demand for ammunition increases, ammunition producers will increase production in order to meet this demand.Last week, another Republican representative, Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) brought up the 'stockpiling' conspiracy in a hearing with DHS Sec. Janet Napolitano, who said it was "inherently unbelievable that those statements would be made."The theory comes from fringe websites like Alex Jones's Infowars, but have been given a platform by Drudge, a site that commonly peddles unfounded conspiracy theories. Even some far-right sites have taken it upon themselves to debunk the claim that DHS is 'stockpiling' weapons. Brietbart.com described the theories as based more on panic than fact.

I have abandoned my Flying Monkeys thread due to the incessant rantings of a lunatic who has taken up residence there. So this will my new home.Just as I did in my other thread, I will use this thread kind of like a blog, to post about a variety of topics that interest me, and vent about them. Of course, as always, I also invite comments from other forum members. ******************************************************************************************** Ilyse Hogue is exactly right. Denying women access to safe and affordable abortion care will only drive the practice underground, and create more butchers like Kermit Gosnell. Abortion is BIG BUSINESS to Planned parenthood, etc. There will always be an underground. Planned Parenthood will see to that. How about denying "born alive children" their right to survive. After all, they paid their dues by surviving the abortionist. Once the baby is born and free of the mother's womb, they should also have a right to their own body. Right? i was hoping for a detailed manifesto (kind of like those ******* things they find on Facebook after someone has shot up something saying they were abused, mocked, bullied or chained in a basement). i think LMM could get VERY creative/descriptive... ,,,,,,,, did you notice that butcher's trial is getting very little media coverage? free pass from the liberal media, no? The liberal media must protect their pawns from reality...

Right? This whole 'born alive' meme is a red herring perpetrated by anti-choice people who way over-exaggerate the number of late term abortions that are being performed. Only about one percent of all abortions performed in the United States occur after 21 weeks, and are not being done just for the sake of convenience. For the most part, they are being performed to ensure that a woman would not have to lose her life to infection or complications in an already-doomed pregnancy.

Putin: Russias Tip On Boston Bombing Suspect Didnt Have 'Operative Significance'Russian President Vladimir Putin weighed in on the Boston Marathon bombing during a marathon public question-and-answer session Thursday, claiming the information Russia provided the FBI about one of the alleged bombers did not have "operative significance." Putin also declared that Americans who want to see the surviving suspect branded a "prisoner of war" have "completely lost their marbles."Putin addressed the bombing during a "Direct Line" broadcast where he spent nearly five hours taking questions submitted from Russians in the audience, via email, telephone hotline, and text message. He has participated in the "Direct Line" program almost each year since 2001.When the Direct Line broadcast was over, Putin fielded some questions from journalists including one who asked about a 2011 request Russia's domestic intelligence agency, the FSB, made to the FBI for information on deceased bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev. That request has prompted questions about whether American law enforcement agencies could have done more to identify Tsarnaev and his brother, Dzokhar, before they allegedly carried out the attack on the Boston Marathon. After an initial investigation of Tsarnaev, the FBI asked for more information from Russia in order to allow them to look into him further. Russia did not respond with more information. However, after going to the FBI, the Russian intelligence agencies contacted the CIA and requested they also look into Tsarnaev. Because of these investigations into Tsarnaev, his name was included on two different watch lists. In spite of this, law enforcement agencies were not notified when Tsarnaev took a trip to Russia in 2012 because the birthdate and spelling of his name the FSB had provided to the FBI were both incorrect.Read more at link in title.Meanwhile, key facts have emerged about how Obama's FBI and CIA bungled Russian's repeated attempts to warn us about the two terrorists.Wrong again.Read the part about how the FBI asked for more information from Russia in order to allow them to look into Tsarnaev further, but Russia did not respond with more information. Oh well gosh, if they didn't respond, then Obama can safely ignore two warnings. That worked out well, right? Congress is asking DHS to explain why they expend 3,500 rounds of ammunition a year vs. 350 for most Soldiers. They're buying ammunition in bulk. Not sure I subscribe to a conspiracy theory, but it does beg the question of why they need so much ammunition. Are they fighting some kind of domestic war we don't know about? Don't read into that, I'm just trying to understand why they need so much training ammunition when the military, whose job is to defeat enemies foreign and domestic, does not.
