The person who paid Wheeler is a millionaire FOX News analyst named Ed Butowsky.
Wheeler is also a FOX News contributor.

BTW, it looks like Wheeler has never actually examined Seth Rich's computer.
So forgive me if I take this story with a huge grain of salt, or should I say a boulder of salt.

What he did NOT say was that 45 didn't disclose any classified info, which is what the article DID allege.

P.S. You're supposed to blame the people who leaked the story and the Washington Post for publishing it.

They are the ones who put lives in danger, not 45 who gave the highly sensitive info to the two Russian spies.

Those are the talking points straight from FOX News.

Fox News: Murdered DNC Staffer Sent 44,053 Internal Emails to WikiLeaks

Fox News is now reporting, based on multiple investigative sources, that Seth Rich -- the Democratic National Committee staffer who was gunned down in Northwest D.C. near his home last July -- leaked thousands of DNC emails to WikiLeaks in the months beforehand.

According to Fox News' Malia Zimmerman, these new revelations are consistent with the findings of Rod Wheeler, a former D.C. homicide detective and Fox News contributor. Wheeler told Fox 5 DC that there is evidence on Rich's laptop that confirms he was emailing WikiLeaks prior to his death. Wheeler's law enforcement sources also allegedly claimed they were told to "stand down" on investigating the crime.

Rich's family, however, has denounced Wheeler's claims in a statement, calling them "unsubstantiated."

A federal investigator who reviewed an FBI forensic report -- generated within 96 hours after DNC staffer Seth Rich's murder -- detailing the contents Rich’s computer said he made contact with WikiLeaks through Gavin MacFadyen, a now-deceased American investigative reporter, documentary filmmaker, and director of WikiLeaks who was living in London at the time.
“I have seen and read the emails between Seth Rich and WikiLeaks,” the federal investigator told Fox News, confirming the MacFadyen connection. He said the emails are in possession of the FBI, while the stalled case is in the hands of the Washington Police Department.

The revelation is consistent with the findings of Rod Wheeler, a former DC homicide detective and Fox News contributor and whose private investigation firm was hired by a third party on behalf of Rich’s family to probe the case. Rich was shot from behind in the wee hours, but was not robbed.

“My investigation up to this point shows there was some degree of email exchange between Seth Rich and WikiLeaks,” Wheeler said. “I do believe that the answers to who murdered Seth Rich sits on his computer on a shelf at the DC police or FBI headquarters.”

The federal investigator, who requested anonymity, said 44,053 emails and 17,761 attachments between Democratic National Committee leaders, spanning from January 2015 through late May 2016, were transferred from Rich to MacFadyen before May 21.

Rich left Lou’s City Bar, a couple miles from his home, at about 1:15 a.m. on July 10. His immediate activities after leaving the bar remain a mystery:

He walked home, calling several people along the way. He called his father, Joel Rich, who he missed because he had gone to sleep. He talked with a fraternity brother and his girlfriend, Kelsey Mulka.
Around 4:17 a.m., Rich was about a block from his home when Mulka, still on the phone with him, heard voices in the background. Rich reassured her that he was steps away from being at his front door and hung up.

Two minutes later, Rich was shot twice. Police were on the scene within three minutes. Rich sustained bruising on his hands and face. He remained conscious, but died at a nearby hospital less than two hours later.

Police detectives will not say whether Rich provided them with any clues about the identity of his attackers or their motivation, Wheeler said. However, Wheeler believes Rich could have provided information prior to his death of who was responsible for carrying out his murder.

WASHINGTON -- National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster told reporters today that President Trump did share "wholly appropriate" information with the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in the Oval Office, but McMaster wouldn't talk about the classification of the material and added that Trump wasn't aware of the source of the intelligence.


The Washington Post reported Monday that an unnamed ally was burned by the revelation as Trump shared information "provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government," a disclosure that "jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State."


The New York Times story added that, while the president has broad declassification powers, the ally whose intel was shared "has repeatedly warned American officials that it would cut off access to such sensitive information if it were shared too widely."


McMaster told reporters in a brief statement outside the White House on Monday evening that "the story that came out tonight as reported is false."


Today, in the White House briefing room to discuss Trump's first overseas trip, McMaster said "the premise of that article is false, that in any way the president had a conversation that was inappropriate or that resulted in any kind of lapse in national security."


The general said he wouldn't "discuss what is and what isn't classified," but "in the context of that -- that -- that discussion, what the president discussed with the foreign minister was wholly appropriate to that conversation and is consistent with the routine sharing of information between the president and any leaders with whom he's engaged."


He added that he was "not concerned at all" that allies would be hesitant to intelligence-share with the United States out of concern for the security of that information.

The article did not allege those things.
They call that a none denial denial.

Unnamed sources are nothing new.
Don't forget, it was an unnamed source called Deep Throat that brought down a president.

P.S. Guess what didn't leak out from that meeting?
The POTUS telling the Russians to stop **** with our elections.
That's what he should have been telling them.

Story on DNC staffer's murder dominated conservative media -- hours later it fell apart.

It took only hours for one of the biggest stories in conservative media this week, which some outlets had chosen to focus on over news that President Trump disclosed classified information to senior Russian officials, to fall apart.

On Monday night, Rod Wheeler, a private investigator and Fox News contributor, put things in motion during an interview with WTTG-TV, a Fox affiliate in Washington.

Wheeler, who was under contract with the family of Seth Rich, a Democratic National Committee staffer who was fatally shot in July, told WTTG-TV evidence existed that proved Rich had been in contact with Wikileaks before his death.

For months, right-wing media outlets have floated unproven theories that Rich was the person who provided Wikileaks thousands of internal DNC emails, and that his death might have been connected with the supposed leak.

No real evidence has been provided to support such claims and Washington's Metropolitan Police Department, which continues to investigate the murder, says there is evidence to suggest he may have been the victim of a botched robbery.

Nevertheless, a handful of right-wing media outlets have latched on to the theory -- and Wheeler's remarks on Monday allowed the narrative to once again ricochet throughout the conservative media universe.

"NOT RUSSIA, BUT AN INSIDE JOB?" asked Breitbart, the far-right website previously led by White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, which said that "if proven, the report has the potential to be one of the biggest cover-ups in American political history, dispelling the widespread claim that the Russians were behind hacks on the DNC."

"DEAD DNC STAFFER 'HAD CONTACT' WITH WIKILEAKS," declared the headline of the Drudge Report, the highly-trafficked conservative news destination.

Fox News on Tuesday morning joined in the chorus, publishing a lead story on its website about the "DC MURDER MYSTERY." The story said Wheeler had made the claim Wikileaks had been in contact with Rich.

It added that a federal investigator, who it said had spoken on the condition of anonymity, corroborated it.

But Tuesday afternoon, Wheeler told CNN he had no evidence to suggest Rich had contacted Wikileaks before his death.

Wheeler instead said he only learned about the possible existence of such evidence through the reporter he spoke to for the FoxNews.com story.

He explained that the comments he made to WTTG-TV were intended to simply preview Fox News' Tuesday story. The WTTG-TV news director did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

"I only got that [information] from the reporter at Fox News," Wheeler told CNN.

Asked about a quote attributed to him in the Fox News story in which he said his "investigation up to this point shows there was some degree of email exchange between Seth Rich and Wikileaks," Wheeler said he was referring to information that had already been reported in the media.

A Fox News spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment by the time of publication.

Earlier Tuesday, Brad Bauman, a spokesman for the Rich family, released a statement in which he said the family had "seen no evidence" to suggest Seth Rich had been in contact with Wikileaks.

Bauman told CNN the outlets that had run with the story "have shown over and over again that they are willing to lie and manipulate the facts" to further "their own political end."

"I think it's important for everyone at Fox News to be careful with this information and how this story breaks because using the legacy of a murder victim in such an overtly political way is morally reprehensible," he said.

Bauman also said the Rich family was reviewing possible legal action against Wheeler for speaking about the case publicly.

A contract between Wheeler and the Rich family prohibited from speaking to the media about his ongoing investigation, Bauman said.

"It is possible that this private investigator is in breach of a non disclosure contract," Bauman told CNN, adding that the private investigator's public comments have "seriously impeded the ability of the Metropolitan Police Department to investigate."

Asked whether he was in breach of a contract, Wheeler said, "I don't know, it's hard to say."

"I think that's something I will have to work out with [the family]," he added.

Wheeler was put in touch with the Rich family through Dallas businessman Ed Butowsky, who told CNN he had offered to pay any bills associated with the investigation.

"You have a family who can't afford a PI. Their son was killed. So I offered to help out," Butowsky said.

Butowsky, a financial adviser, has provided commentary to Fox News on a number of occasions.

He has also written columns for Breitbart, and was critical of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.


Speaking with NBC News, Butowsky had denied his involvement with Wheeler and the Rich family.

Asked why, he told CNN, "I didn't want to talk to NBC."

Butowsky also said that, thus far, he hasn't "paid any money to anybody."

He said Wheeler was investigating the Rich murder at no cost.
