At least 100 dogs from Texas shelter airlifted to New Jersey.

At least 100 homeless dogs that were awaiting adoption in San Antonio, Texas, shelters are being relocated to facilities in the northeast to free up space for animals displaced by Hurricane Harvey.

The canines, ranging from puppies to older dogs, are slated to arrive at the Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey on Tuesday night before they’re transported over to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ.

While at St. Hubert’s, the dogs will be fed and cared for until they’re moved to one of 12 shelters in either in New Jersey, upstate New York, New Hampshire, Delaware or Canada, said Debra Miller of the St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center.

“In a few days, we should have all of these dogs up for adoption,” Miller said.

The president and CEO of St. Hubert’s, Heather Cammisa, said: “In cases like this, moving pets who were already in the shelter system helps provide capacity for animals displaced by the storm and keeps them close to home.”

The airlift of the dogs, which will be the first animal flight to the northeast out of Harvey-ravaged Texas, was organized by the Humane Society of the United States with the help of the Wings of Rescue organization.

Katie Jarl, the Texas senior director of the Humane Society of the United States, called the animal transport “huge for evacuees” of the flood-walloped state.

“This is absolutely going to be a game changer for the people in San Antonio,” Jarl said.

At least 100 other homeless dogs from the San Antonio area will be transported to shelters on the West Coast on Wednesday to make room for even more animals displaced by Harvey, according to Jarl.

With more rain on the way, activists and agencies scrambled Tuesday to rescue pets still trapped by floodwaters as overwhelmed shelters struggled to make room for impacted animals.

Despite her supposed support for equal pay, Ivanka Trump backed a recent White House decision to end an Obama administration rule that would have required businesses to monitor the salaries of employees of different genders, races, and ethnicities in an effort to prevent employment discrimination.

Ivanka said in a statement that the policy, which would have taken effect this spring, would “not yield the intended results.”

She didn’t offer any alternatives to replace the policy or explain why monitoring employees’ salaries would not help close wage gaps.

Other than appointing someone qualified to run FEMA, I don't really see what he's done so far, except congratulate himself for the size of the crowd in Corpus Christie.



Why won't he accept the help that Mexico offered?

Political journalists in a panel discussion on MSNBC on Wednesday discussed video of a shocking MSNBC focus group in Pittsburgh, PA in which people who voted for President Donald Trump in November seemed genuinely horrified at how his presidency has turned out.

“Abject disappointment,” said one voter.

“Extremely disappointed — because regardless of what he wants to get done, whatever that may be, he has got to be his own worst enemy.

He couldn’t be any worse at achieving goals in politics.”

The overwhelmingly negative reviews that the Pittsburgh voters gave Trump show that his supporters are not all unified behind him in his current struggles.

His base may be eroding, in spite of political observers’ belief that Trump’s fans will support him no matter what.

Politico’s Jake Sherman said that part of the irony of the currently paralyzed Trump administration is that Trump ran on his reputation as “this great dealmaker.”

“He was the deal maker,” Sherman said. “This isn’t a partisan statement: He has not made a deal yet and we are eight months into his administration.”

MSNBC contributor Jeremy Peters summed up the Pittsburgh voters’ discontent with Trump by saying, “They thought they’d get Abraham Lincoln and they end up with Don Rickles.

This should not be a surprise. I think that — you know, like I was trying to explain earlier, I think there’s — the polling shows that there’s no doubt a bleeding in his support among conservatives and Republicans.

I think it’s a question of how much he can recover that.”

That’s according to the latest Fox News Poll.

The number of voters happy with how things are going in the country is down 10 percentage points since April and stands at just 35 percent.

It hasn’t been that low since 2013. At the same time, dissatisfaction jumped to 64 percent -- an 11-point increase.

That shift is not, as is often the case, tied to the economy.

Positive views on the economy are higher than in more than a decade: 36 percent say it is in either “excellent” (6 percent) or “good” (30 percent) shape.

The last time conditions were rated this positively was August 2004.

The same isn’t true for Trump.

His job ratings are increasingly negative -- and 56 percent feel Trump’s “tearing the country apart,” versus 33 percent who say he’s “drawing the country together.”

About two-thirds of Republicans feel Trump is drawing the country together (68 percent), while 15 percent say tearing the country apart and 18 percent are unsure.

Nearly all Democrats (93 percent) and over half of independents (59 percent) say Trump is tearing the country apart.

In addition, a record 55 percent of voters disapprove of the job he’s doing as president, while 41 percent approve.

That’s a net negative by 14 points and his worst score to-date.

In April, around the 100-day mark of the administration, his ratings were at net negative three (45-48 percent).

Trump’s first job rating on the Fox News Poll is the only one that’s been in positive territory: 48-47 percent (February 2017).

Since that time he’s lost the most ground with conservatives (down 7 points), Republican men (-9 points), and whites without a college degree (-9 points).
