Trump nominates some club members to plum government jobs.
When President Trump this week tapped Florida insurance executive Robin Bernstein to serve as the nation’s next ambassador to the Dominican Republic, he wasn’t just giving a business associate and longtime supporter a plum Caribbean assignment.
Bernstein also is a founding member of his private Florida club, Mar-a-Lago.
A USA TODAY review finds that Trump has installed at least five people who have been members of his clubs to senior roles in his administration, ranging from Bernstein and Callista Gingrich, the nation’s new ambassador to the Vatican, to Adolfo Marzol, a member of the Trump National Golf Club in suburban Washington, who serves as a senior adviser at the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Presidents often name campaign donors and close allies to administration posts, particularly prized diplomatic postings in cosmopolitan European capitals, such as Paris and London, and the tourist playgrounds of the West Indies.
But never in modern history has a president awarded government posts to people who pay money to his own companies.

Rep DeSantis Calls For Declassification of Obama-Comey FISA Applications – ‘Americans Deserve to Know if Dossier Was Used to Unmask Trump’
DeSantis said in a statement:
“We now know that the so-called Steele dossier was paid for by the Democratic Party in an effort to gin up negative information regarding then-candidate Trump. What the American people deserve to know is whether the information compiled by Steele on the Democrats’ dime was used by the Obama administration to obtain approval to conduct surveillance against Trump associates. The FBI has stonewalled producing these documents for months and their production shouldn’t be limited to closed door viewing by a small number of members of Congress. The Trump administration should immediately declassify all the documents used to obtain surveillance warrants against Trump or his associates.”

So 45 laments the fact that he can't use the Justice Dep't and the FBI to go after people the way the authoritarian leaders he admires so much do.Trump Says He’s ‘Very Frustrated’ He Can’t Order DOJ, FBI To Go After Hillary Clinton
“The saddest thing is that because I’m the president of the United States, I am not supposed to be involved with the Justice Department. I’m not supposed to be involved with the FBI.”
President Donald Trump said he would “love” to send the Justice Department and FBI after former rival Hillary Clinton, and is “very frustrated” that he can’t.
During an interview on Thursday, conservative radio host Larry O’Connor of WMAL in Washington told Trump that his callers wanted to see an investigation into the seven-year-old Uranium One deal.
Back in 2010, when Clinton was secretary of state, a Russian nuclear energy firm bought a controlling interest in Uranium One. Since then, the deal has become a major talking point in conservative media.
Trump lamented:
“But you know the saddest thing is that because I’m the president of the United States, I am not supposed to be involved with the Justice Department.
I’m not supposed to be involved with the FBI. I’m not supposed to be doing the kind of things that I would love to be doing. And I’m very frustrated by it.”
Trump also questioned why the DOJ wasn’t investigating Clinton’s behavior during the 2016 presidential campaign.
“I look at what’s happening with the Justice Department.
Why aren’t they going after Hillary Clinton with her emails and with the dossier, and the kind of money?”
Trump said. “I don’t know, is it possible that they paid $12.4 million for the dossier?
And how was it ― which is total phony, fake ― and how was it used?”
Trump called the whole situation “very discouraging” and said he was “very unhappy” that it seemed like the Justice Department wasn’t investigating Clinton.
He also said the president isn’t supposed to be involved in such a process, then added, “but hopefully they are doing something and at some point, maybe we’re going to all have it out.”

One Person Dead, One Flown to Hospital in Pike County Shooting
A dispute between neighbors -- may have led to a deadly shooting this afternoon in Pike County.State police say two men were both armed -- and shot at each other -- outside of Milford.
Eyewitness News reporter Eric Deabill is in Dingman Township with the latest on what happened..
We know the man who was shot, Howard McElnea, was flown to Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. His condition is unknown at this hour.
The name of the man killed here at the scene has not yet been released
A large section of Route 2001 in Dingman Township, known by locals simply as Route 01, was blocked off by state police Thursday.
Troopers say a neighbor dispute left one man in his 60's dead and a man who was in his 70's shot multiple times. He was flown to the hospital.
Investigators say both men were armed and fired on each other.
A dispute over a fence could be to blame.
"One of the things we're working on right now is trying to find out what precipitated the argument.
One of the factors could have been a property dispute.
That is something we're trying to confirm but investigators are working on that right now" said Trooper Mark Keyes
An attorney for the man who was shot several times identifies him as Howard McElnea.
He believes McElnea may have been trying to defend himself but admits the investigation is just getting underway.
State police believe this was an isolated incident and troopers say there is no danger to the public
"The information that we have right now is pretty sketchy so we don't want to dive into it too much until we're able to sit down and hopefully speak with witnesses" added Attorney Thomas Mincer
State police say there were other witnesses to the shooting.
They're currently being interviewed.
Search warrants are also being executed.
Troopers admit having two neighbors shooting at each other with guns during the middle of the day is unusual.
"One of the things we're looking into right now is if both men were armed or if someone came back to the location armed" said Trooper Keyes.
PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) Update:Eyewitness News Police say 68-year-old Jeffrey Van Slyke died Thursday afternoon in Dingman Township.
Authorities say Van Slyke and his neighbor 78-year old Howard McElnea got into a squabble over property.
Investigators say both men were armed and started firing at each other.
Van Slyke was shot and died at the scene. He did manage to pop off a few rounds, hitting McElnea several times.
This all happened on along Route 20-01.

You posted no examples of any president since Reagan who said that they were 'saddened' by the fact that they could not direct the DOJ or the FBI on who they should investigate.
Nothing to see here folks.

He was stating the fact that his powers were limited because he was a president and not a king.
The person who wrote that piece said that Obama 'fantasized' about having authoritarian power.
That was his opinion.
Obama never said it was 'the saddest thing' that he could not tell the DOJ or the FBI what to do.
Or that he was 'saddened' by the fact that he could not order them to investigate his political opponent.
He understood why those separations are necessary.
45 obviously does not.
And that was a joke.
You failed. 'Nuff Said.
