Benghazi panel used $150K in taxpayer money to settle wrongful termination lawsuit.
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the former chair of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, used $150,000 of taxpayer money to settle a wrongful dismissal suit from a former staffer, according to a report Friday.
The Washington Post reported that the former aide claimed that he was fired, in part, because he refused to focus his investigative work for the committee on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The settlement appeared on a list of settlements released by the Office of Compliance (OOC) on Friday. The list disclosed that the OOC oversaw the $150,000 settlement to a claim of veteran status discrimination and retaliation.
The former aide, Bradley Podliska, alleged that he was fired because of his refusal to focus on Clinton and because he took leave to fulfil his duties as an Air Force reservist.

~40% goes to taxes (federal/local/state, assuming they live in a "high tax" blue state and using the highest tax estimates) = $60K remaining
Family of 3 with expenses ~$35K (assuming family doesn't live in SF/Seattle/NY and budgets properly): $25K remaining AFTER taxes + expenses. I didn't even include employer contributions.
So how is it they cannot contribute $18K a year to a retirement account?
And you have the gall to accuse of people of failing to understand "basic economics..." when you cannot even understand "basic math"

When is the last time anyone was prosecuted for violating the Logan Act, psycho? If that's what Tribe is advocating, why didn't he demand that Obama be prosecuted?
And given that there's no crime Flynn committed beyond lying to the FBI, of course Trump has the Constitutional authority to dump Comey, and for many reasons beyond just the Flynn investigation.
Comey is a Beltway hack who violated Justice Dept. and FBI guidelines in order to let Hillary get away with her crimes, lied about the law which doesn't demand "intent" by her, betrayed Trump and lied under oath.
Good riddance.

KT McFarland, a top official on President Donald Trump's transition team, said in an email last December that they should reassure Russia, which she said had just "thrown the U.S.A. election" to Trump.
The email, obtained by The New York Times, sheds new light on McFarland's role in coordinating the transition team's attempts to convince Russia not to retaliate against the US after President Barack Obama announced new sanctions and the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats last year.
A senior member of President Donald Trump's transition team said in email to a colleague on December 29, 2016, shortly after the Obama administration had imposed new sanctions on Russia, that the transition team should try to reassure the country that had just "thrown" the election to Trump.
The transition official, KT McFarland, told the unnamed colleague in the email obtained by the New York Times that the sanctions were aimed at delegitimizing Trump's election victory.
“If there is a tit-for-tat escalation Trump will have difficulty improving relations with Russia, which has just thrown U.S.A. election to him,” she wrote.
McFarland previously served as deputy national security adviser before she was asked to resign by H.R. McMaster, who became national security adviser after Flynn's abrupt departure.

There still isn't one single shred of evidence of either collusion or obstruction of justice, which is what this whole thing was supposed to be about.
In contrast, that hack Comey gave Hillary a free pass based on his his clear mis-statement of the law and his ridiculous distinction between gross negligence and "extreme carelessness."

Orrin Hatch Bemoans 'Freeloaders' Threatening The CHIP Program
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-naturally) of Utah has been flirting with the idea of retiring, so perhaps it's that "nothing left to lose" attitude that lets him go on the Senate floor and bemoan the millions and millions of freeloaders (buying into liberal philosophy) that drain the federal treasury so that it's difficult to keep good programs like CHIP running.
Let me tell you something, we’ll do CHIP, there is no question about it in my mind.
It has to be done the right way.
But the reason CHIP is having troubles…we don’t have any money any more.
Just to add more and more spending.
You look at the rest of the bill for more and more spending.
I happen to think CHIP has done a terrific job for people who really needed the help.
I have taken the position around here for my whole senate service, I believe in helping those who cannot help themselves, but would if they could.
I have a rough time wanting to spend billions and billions, trillions of dollars to help people who won’t help themselves. Won’t lift a finger. Expect the federal government to do everything.

I have got to say it, I think it’s pretty hard to argue against these comments.
Because if you look it over, for decades now, we have been spending more than we have, fielding more and more federal programs, some of which are lousy.
Some of which are well-intended.
And some of which are actually good like the CHIP program. We’re going to get CHIP through. There is no question about this.
Just so you aren't missing the fullness of Orrin Hatch's inhumanity, this is the man who helped author and usher into passage a draconian tax bill that cut taxes in the trillions to TRUST FUND BABIES who do nothing for themselves.

Republican Congressman Says He Will Pay Back $84,000 Sexual Harassment Settlement
A Texas Congressman said Monday he would pay back the $84,000 in taxpayer money that was used to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit that was filed by a former employee.
“Even though I was completely exonerated by [the Office of Congressional Ethics] and the settlement agreement has been paid, I am doing my best and am going to hand a check over this week to, probably Speaker Ryan or somebody, and say, look, here is the amount of my settlement.
Give it back to the taxpayers,” Farenthold said in an interview with KRIS-TV.
In 2014, Rep. Blake Farenthold’s former communications director Lauren Greene sued alleging she’d been sexually harassed by the Congressman while working in his office.
On Friday, Politico reported that Farenthold’s office used taxpayer money to pay off an $84,000 settlement that was reached in that case.

An adviser to President Trump reportedly said Trump was "embarrassed" by the Pence family's desire to bring their pets with them to Washington, D.C.
The adviser told The Atlantic Trump told his secretary that he thought it was "low class" for the Pences to bring their pets to the Naval Observatory.
