Why does the CR contain $20 billion for 45's stupid wall?
How many times has he told us that Mexico was going to pay for the wall?

Seems like when the great negotiator spoke to the Mexican president about that, he got shut down hard.

In his first WH call to the Mexican president, 45 tried to pressure the Mexican leader to stop saying publicly that his government would never pay for the wall.

When Peña Nieto refused to play ball 45 said, “if you are going to say that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, then I do not want to meet with you guys anymore because I cannot live with that.”

And with that the little manchild took his ball and went home.

A review of a classified document outlining what is described as extensive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse was made available to all House members Thursday and the revelations could lead to the removal of senior officials in the FBI and Department of Justice, several sources with knowledge of the document stated. These sources say the report is “explosive,” stating they would not be surprised if it leads to the end of Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation into President Trump and his associates.

The House Intelligence Committee passed the motion along party lines Thursday to make the classified report alleging extensive ‘FISA Abuse’ related to the controversial dossier available to all House members. The report contains information regarding the dossier that alleges President Trump and members of his team colluded with the Russians in the 2016 presidential election. Some members of the House viewed the document in a secure room Thursday.

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., offered the motion on Thursday to make the Republican majority-authored report available to the members.

“The document shows a troubling course of conduct and we need to make the document available, so the public can see it,” said a senior government official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the document. “Once the public sees it, we can hold the people involved accountable in a number of ways.”

The government official said that after reading the document “some of these people should no longer be in the government.”

The document also apparently outlines “several problematic” issues with how FISA warrants were “packaged, and used” state several sources with knowledge of the report.

Over the past year, whistleblowers in the law enforcement and intelligence community have revealed to Congress what they believe to be extensive abuse with regard to FISA surveillance, as previously reported.

The dossier was used in part as evidence for a warrant to surveil members of the Trump campaign, according to a story published this month. Former British spy Christopher Steele, who compiled the dossier in 2016, was hired by embattled research firm Fusion GPS. The firm’s founder is Glenn Simpson, a former Wall Street Journal reporter who has already testified before Congress in relation to the dossier. In October, The Washington Post revealed for the first time that it was the Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC that financed Fusion GPS.
Congressional members are hopeful that the classified information will be declassified and released to the public.

“We probably will get this stuff released by the end of the month,” stated a congressional member, who asked not to be named.

But the government official, who viewed the document said “it will be tough for a lot of people to see this and especially the media, which has been attempting to deemphasize the dossier. It’s going to punch a hole in their collusion narrative.”

Donald Trump in 2013: Government Shutdowns Happen When the President Is Bad at His Job

As the prospect of a shutdown looms larger by the hour, Republicans in Washington should be leaving no stone unturned in their frantic efforts to avoid closing a government over which they enjoy complete control. Fortunately, in October 2013, noted business mogul and television personality Donald Trump appeared on Fox News to deliver his sage advice on what a ruling party in turmoil could do to prevent such a disastrous outcome. Perhaps it might be of use to the current President of the United States, whoever that person may be, in their hour of greatest need.

VAN SUSTEREN: Donald, we're having a hell of a time trying to negotiate here in Washington. So tell me: If you were president, what would you do?

TRUMP: Well, very simply, you have to get everybody in a room. You have to be a leader. The president has to lead. He's got to get [the Speaker of the House] and everybody else in a room, and they have to make a deal. You have to be nice, and be angry, and be wild, and cajole, and do all sorts of things. But you have to get a deal.

From there, the longtime host of The Apprentice proceeded to share his frank assessment of how the federal government, at that time, could have arrived at such a humiliating impasse in the first place: an utter dearth of negotiating talent among its elected leaders.

TRUMP: Unfortunately, [the president] has never been a dealmaker. That wasn't his expertise before he went into politics. And it's obviously not his expertise now. But you have to get the people in the room, and you have to get a deal that's good for everybody and good for the country.

Today marks the last day of President Donald Trump’s first year in office.

Threats of a government shutdown loom over Washington, so naturally the president is blaming Democrats for the congressional impasse over DACA and government funding… on Twitter, of course.

“Government Funding Bill past last night in the House of Representatives. Now Democrats are needed if it is to pass in the Senate – but they want illegal immigration and weak borders. Shutdown coming? We need more Republican victories in 2018!”

But this is Donald Trump we’re dealing with. The hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe presented a video from 2013 in which Donald Trump claims presidents are ultimately responsible for keeping the government open.

“Who gets fired?” Elizabeth Hasselback of Fox & Friends asks Trump in the video, which you can watch below (in the link above).

“Problems have to be solved from the top,” Trump replies.

“The president is the leader, and he’s gotta get everybody in a room and he’s gotta lead.”

Trump added that “when they talk about the government shutdown…they’re going to be talking about the president of the United States…the pressure is on the president.”

The truth about the new ‘top secret’ memo Republicans can’t stop talking about.

House Republicans and right-wing media outlets are up in arms about a classified memo purportedly detailing misconduct related to the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign for possible collusion with Russia.

After reviewing it on Thursday, a number of Trump-supporting Republicans flooded the airwaves on Fox News.

On Hannity, Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) called for Mueller to be fired, with Gaetz characterizing the special counsel’s investigation as “a lie built on corruption” and akin to “a palace coup.”

On Friday morning, Fox & Friends spun the story as “worse than Watergate.”

Meanwhile, Trump supporters like Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI), and Donald Trump Jr. called for the memo to be immediately released to the American public.

There are a number of reasons to be extremely skeptical about the memo, however.

House Intelligence Chair Devin Nunes has already been involved in discredited efforts to run interference for Trump.

According to Lawfare executive editor Susan Hennessey, Rep. Devin Nunes’ (R-CA) fingerprints are all over the FISA memo.

Citing a source with knowledge, Natasha Bertrand of Business Insider adds that the so-called “Nunes memo” embodies “a level of irresponsible stupidity that I cannot fathom.

Purposefully misconstrues facts and leaves out important details.”

Nunes, chair of the House Intelligence Committee, was at the center of a previous ham-handed attempt to run interference for Trump.

Last spring, Nunes traveled to the White House to review documents that he said showed that “on numerous occasions the intelligence community incidentally collected information about US citizens involved in the Trump transition.”

Nunes was attempting to validate Trump’s reckless claim that then-President Obama “tapped” his phones.

Trump went as far as to accuse former National Security Adviser Susan Rice of criminal acts related to unmasking, claiming the Obama administration’s surveillance practices are “one of the big stories of our time.”

But neither Nunes or Trump ever produced any evidence of wrongdoing, and their accusations were debunked by congressional sources on both sides of the aisle.

With their narrative in shambles, the fact Nunes and the White House had clearly colluded in an attempt to manufacture a scandal led Nunes to announce he was “temporarily” stepping aside from the House Intelligence Committee’s Russia investigation.

In recent weeks, Nunes, Jordan, Gaetz, Hannity, and others have been ceaselessly trying to turn the story surrounding the Trump campaign’s Russia ties into a process story about the origins and nature of the FBI investigation.

These Republicans are eager to cast the decision to investigate Trump as political, and prompted by the Steele dossier, which was partially funded by allies of Hillary Clinton.

But we recently learned that the story of the FBI’s investigation begins with Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos telling an Australian diplomat that Russia was in possession of political dirt about Hillary Clinton.

What’s more, the investigation began in July 2016 — four months before Trump won the election.

Though Jordan has spent months promoting his Comey/Clinton conspiracy theory on the uncritical programming of Fox News, his claims have not held up under the slightest bit of scrutiny.

Jordan and Hannity are harping on FBI’s process as a way to distract from the story surrounding the Trump campaign’s ties with Russia — the actual thing Mueller is investigating.

The new effort to create controversy about the FISA memo represents an extension of that effort.

The FISA memo is not an official work product of the House Intelligence Committee — and it’s not clear how it was proudced.

According to a Daily Caller reporter, no Democrats have even seen it.

Not only are the origins of the memo unclear, but the question of which members of Congress endorse its findings remains open.

Republicans are using a lot of adjectives but won’t talk about what the memo actually says.

Republicans are doing all they can to spread the idea that the memo contains scandalous findings.

But over the course of numerous interviews on Fox News on Thursday and Friday, not a single Republican who has seen the memo said a single thing about its substance or what exactly they find so troubling about it.

There’s nothing standing in the way of the memo being released for public consumption

As National Review reporter Jim Geraghty pointed out on Twitter, there’s absolutely nothing stopping President Trump from declassifying the memo and releasing it for public review.

Even if Trump elected not to declassify the memo, Republican leaders in the House could do it without any Democratic support.

And yet they haven’t, which makes one wonder if Republicans stand to lose more than they would gain from the memo’s public release.

The memo is being pushed by Republicans who have already proven they’re willing to do anything to protect Trump.

A number of Republicans who are leading the effort to make a fuss about the memo, including Gaetz and Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), have already called for Mueller to be dismissed.

Others — including Nunes and Jordan — have proven they’ll stop at nothing in their efforts to defend the president.

In short, the Republicans making the most noise about the memo have already demonstrated they are operating with motives besides protecting Americans from unwarranted surveillance.

And their effort to muddy the waters is being aided by Russia-linked Twitter accounts.

Nunes-Led Committee Asked For American “Unmaskings”

The House Intelligence Committee led by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) engaged in "unmasking" requests similar to those Nunes has since characterized as an abuse of power, The Washington Post reported Friday.

Late last year, Nunes' panel asked U.S. spy agencies to unmask or reveal the names of Americans in classified intelligence reports, according to the Post.

A tally by U.S. spy agencies found the panel made five to six requests pertaining to U.S. organizations or individuals related to the campaigns of President Trump and Hillary Clinton.

In May, Nunes said he was "very concerned" about unmasking requests by the Obama administration, and called for "major changes" to federal law guiding who can unmask U.S. citizens.

Nunes' recused himself in early April from the House investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election amid a House ethics probe into whether he divulged classified information.

Despite that, he has continued working on the investigation into unmasking attempts by Rice and other Obama White House officials.

Omarosa may have secretly taped White House conversations: report.

Former Trump staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman might have secretly recorded private conversations in the White House out of fear for special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, The New York Daily News reported Friday.

Sources told the Daily News that Manigault Newman, who abruptly resigned from the White House late last year, “loves” to record meetings. Her official last day in the administration is Saturday.

“Everyone knows Omarosa loves to record people and meetings using the voice notes app on her iPhone,” one source said.

“Don’t be surprised if she has secret audio files on everyone in that White House, past and present staffers included.”
