Rachel Brand, 3rd ranking official at Justice Dept., is stepping down.

Rachel Brand, the third-ranking official at the Justice Department, is expected to resign Friday.

A source familiar with Brand's plans said she is going to accept a job with Walmart.

A second source said she is leaving DOJ "because she got a great job."

Brand, the associate attorney general who was confirmed last May, has been a prominent Trump administration official working on the reauthorizing of section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

She served under Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is currently overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
I don't blame her one bit for wanting to get out of that cluster ****.

Kelly knew before abuse reports that Porter would be denied security clearance.

White House chief of staff John Kelly was told several weeks ago that multiple White House aides who had been working in the West Wing on interim security clearances would not qualify for permanent clearances.

Those aides, according to a senior administration official, included former White House staff secretary Rob Porter, who left the White House on Thursday after reports that he physically and verbally abused his two ex-wives.

The White House chief of staff told confidants in recent weeks that he had decided to fire anyone who had been denied a clearance — but had yet to act on that plan before the Porter allegations were first reported this week.
So why didn't Kelly act on his plan to fire those who could not obtain a security clearance?
Because of this:
As Jared Kushner’s security clearance is delayed, White House hesitates to act on others with possible problems.

White House Counsel Donald McGahn and other Trump administration officials have been so vexed by Jared Kushner’s months-long inability to obtain a permanent security clearance that they have hesitated to get involved in other cases with potential problems, several people familiar with the matter said.
So Kelly and McGahn are keeping a bunch of people who will never be able to get clearance, because of Jared Kushner who they can't fire.

And this is why you should not have family members working in the WH.

Related:
Dozens of Trump officials still lack full security clearance.

Thirty to 40 White House officials and administration political appointees are still operating without full security clearances, including senior adviser to President Donald Trump Jared Kushner and -- until recently -- White House staffer Rob Porter, according to a US official and a source familiar with the situation.

The White House claims that the backlog of interim security clearances is a procedural consequence of the review process carried out by the FBI and White House Office of Security, which can take time to complete.

But several sources, including intelligence officials who have served previous Democratic and GOP administrations, describe the backlog as very unusual and make clear that the process should have been completed after a year in office.

Asked on Thursday why so many White House officials were still operating on interim clearances, White House spokesman Raj Shah said he wasn't able to discuss specifics of the clearance process.
I don't ever want to hear another word about how Hillary was careless in her handling of classified material.

These yahoos have a bunch of people who don't have security clearances and my never be able to get security clearances handling all kinds of classified material.

And Obama's massive abuse of power.

Who still hasn't got one single shred of evidence of any criminal act by Trump.

As I've documented in my 30 page thread, he's done a tremendous amount for the country, keeping many of his campaign promises and working to keep the rest.

Blah, blah, blah, blah. There isn't one iota of evidence that either of them have revealed anything classified.

As opposed to the felonies Hillary committed, with our adversaries likely having had access to her illegal server.

BTW, another of trump's wife beaters has resigned tonight. trump has the bestest and most scandals per day that have ever been seen in, like, all of history ... possibly even before that
I know. It's hard to even keep up any more.

Can you imagine that they wanted to 'lock her up' because they said that she sent a couple of classified emails on her private server, and now they have a bunch of people with no security clearances with access to highly classified material every day?

Oh, then I can steal, say, $12 /day for six years and not face indictment?

Besides which, you're missing the point. She violated State Dept. protocol by INTENTIONALLY setting up an insecure server.

That according to Comey was likely hacked by foreign powers.

Before Strzok or someone cut that out of Comey's official statement.

She had the intent to violate the law.

Trump blocks release of Dem memo rebutting GOP claims of FBI surveillance abuse.

President Trump on Friday refused to authorize the release of a Democratic rebuttal to a Republican intelligence committee memo alleging that FBI and Justice Department officials abused their power to spy on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

In a letter to House intelligence committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., the White House said it could not release the Democrats' memo because the Justice Department "has identified portions...which it believes would create especially significant concerns for the national security and law enforcement interests."

That explanation stands in stark contrast to his release of the GOP memo last Friday.

The president approved its release over the strong objections of the FBI, which warned that it could jeopardize national security.
Saw that one coming from a mile away.

At the SOTU 45 said that he was "100%" going to release the Nunes memo before he ever laid eyes on it, and did it even though his own FBI Director said he had 'grave concerns' about it, and his Deputy AG was against it's release also.

John Kelly said that 45 released the Nunes memo because he wanted 'everything out.'
That was a lie.

This proves what we already knew, that the Nunes memo was nothing more than a one-sided political hit piece.

So then you must feel very strongly about the fact that there are people working in the WH who are not able to obtain security clearances, but still have access to highly classified material, right?

Where did I advocate that? There should be an actual investigation with a grand jury and if appropriate, indict here like any criminal.

A former Assistant Director of the FBI and at least two former FBI officials said Comey conducted a sham investigation violating most standard FBI investigative procedures.

That is a parking ticket compared to what HRC did.

To which do you give greater attention?

The felonies committed by the Democrat?

Or the parking ticket by the Trump officials?

To ask it to answer. :\

Do you have a link for Comey saying that?
The FBI report on Hillary Clinton’s private email server, explained.

To be clear: The FBI expressly says that there’s no proof that any attempted hack on Hillary Clinton’s personal email account was successful.
FBI: No evidence Clinton’s email was hacked by foreign powers, but it could have been.

The FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server found no evidence that her communications were hacked while she was secretary of state, but it made clear that “hostile actors” here and abroad could have done so.
