During the hearings, Kavanaugh assured us that he believed: “A good judge must be an umpire — a neutral and impartial arbiter who favors no litigant or policy.
The Supreme Court must never be viewed as a partisan institution.
The justices on the Supreme Court do not sit on opposite sides of an aisle.
They do not caucus in separate rooms.”
But in his last appearance before the committee, just before the vote to send the nomination to the full Senate, Kavanaugh, losing his self control and patience, lashed out with the following:
“This whole two-week effort has been a calculated and orchestrated political hit fueled with apparent pent-up anger about President Trump and the 2016 election, fear that has been unfairly stoked about my judicial record, revenge on behalf of the Clintons,” he said.
He added that the Democrats were “lying in wait” to take him down.
The only thing missing from that statement was, “Lock her up.”
It was pure Trumpian language and probably written in the White House.

Retired Justice John Paul Stevens calls Kavanaugh's temperament disqualifying: 'Senators should pay attention to this.'
Former Supreme Court Associate Justice John Paul Stevens on Thursday said Brett Kavanaugh's behavior during last Thursday's contentious Judiciary Committee hearing should sink his nomination.
Kavanaugh, at times emotional, testified that he was the victim of a far-left smear campaign aimed at preventing a generational rightward shift on the Supreme Court.
In the past several weeks, he has been accused of engaging in gang rapes and sexual misconduct dating back more than three decades -- claims that he has denied and that the FBI, in a supplemental inquiry concluded earlier this week, could not corroborate.
But Stevens, who was an associate justice on the Supreme Court from 1975 to 2010 and gradually shifted to become a reliably liberal justice, suggested Thursday that Kavanaugh went too far in defending himself.
At one point, the judge responded to a question about his past drinking habits from Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., by repeatedly asking if she'd ever had alcohol-related blackouts.
Later in the hearing, he apologized for the remark.
“I thought [Kavanaugh] had the qualifications for the Supreme Court, should he be selected,” Stevens said at a closed event held by a retirement group in Boca Raton, according to The Palm Beach Post.
“I’ve changed my views for reasons that have no relationship to his intellectual ability … I feel his performance in the hearings ultimately changed my mind.”
Stevens added, “I’ve never really been a political person.”
Fox News has confirmed Stevens' remarks.

So IOW the only Senators who matter, are Republican Senators.White House confirms FBI’s Kavanaugh investigation only looked at what Republican senators wanted.
The White House announced early Thursday morning that the FBI has completed its “supplemental background investigation” into Brett Kavanaugh, Donald Trump’s pick for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.
And later that morning, Principal Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah told CNN that the investigation included just nine comprehensive interviews and no examination into whether the nominee may have lied to the Senate Judiciary Committee when he denied ever getting so drunk that he blacked out and had memory lapses.
Shah claimed that the White House had simply had the FBI investigate what the Senate was “interested in,” but then clarified that by that he only meant Senate Republicans.
Asked why the FBI was not permitted to investigate whether Kavanaugh had memory lapses — as his former Yale roommate and other former classmates have alleged — Shah argued that no Senator who matters wanted to know.
More lies:Five Times Brett Kavanaugh Appears to Have Lied to Congress While Under Oath
Pesky documents keep surfacing to contradict the nominee’s claims about his past.
Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has made declarations under oath during his current and past confirmation hearings that are contradicted by documents from his time as a counsel to the president and staff secretary in the George W. Bush White House. Newly released documents have undermined Kavanaugh’s declarations to the Senate Judiciary Committee, contradictions that are drawing close scrutiny from many Democrats. Kavanaugh has denied making any misleading or false statements.
Subjects he lied about:
His role in accessing stolen documents.
Warrantless wiretapping.
Torture.
The nomination of Judge William Pryor.
The nomination of Charles Pickering.
