Congrats to Phyllis Siegel (77) and Connie Kopelov (85), who have been together for 23 years, for being the first couple to wed in Manhattan under New York State's new marriage equality law.Wonderful idea. Risk one of the most important institutions in the country, heck, in the world, to satisfy a tiny fraction of the tiny fraction of the country who are homosexuals. Is there a better example of the utter stupidity and arrogance of Liberalism?Economic terroristSay, whatever happened to your demand for civility and non-violent rhetoric? Didn't you claim it would incite violence? What, the DNC dropped it?

You're an expert on institutions, right Puss? What's the risk Puss? Do you think you'll be tempted to marry a man?The risk is the same as the other laws and values liberals passed or disseminated that have so badly hurt marriage.One-party divorce. The feminist lunacy that divorce was good for a woman and good for kids. The lunacy that marriage was a dead institution that needed to be abolished, that it was bondage for a woman. What, you don't remember decades of attacks on marriage by the liberal-left? Of course you do, but you'll lie and deny it.

The risk is the same as the other laws and values liberals passed or disseminated that have so badly hurt marriage. You know what badly hurts marriage? Serial cheaters who serve their wives with divorce papers while they're recovering from cancer surgery, or men who sleep with their Chief of Staff's wife, and then pay them off to keep quiet, or men who pretend to be straight while they tap dance in bathroom stalls to pick up men, or men who leave their wives to go hiking on the Appalachian Trail. And just to be bi-partisan, let's not forget Presidential candidates who father a child with their videographer, while their wife is fighting cancer. So what's your point, that because some conservatives do the wrong thing, we should further undermine marriage by allowing homosexual marriage? No, let's strengthen marriage by repealing one-party divorce, by strengthening its contract, by acknowledging that liberals were wrong for decades in pushing divorce and claiming it would help women and children. How preposterous.

One story that has flown under the radar during this crazy Debt Ceiling debate is the partial shutdown of the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration).Continued inaction by Congress will cost the U.S. more than $1 billion in tax revenue and has already cost 70,000 construction jobs and 4,000 jobs at the Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told CNBC Tuesday."Were right smack dab in the middle of construction season. There are 70,000 workers off job sites today because Congress cant get their act together and cant compromise," he said. The holdup is a product of a quarrel between Senate Democrats and House Republicans who are demanding a $16.5 million cut in rural air service subsidies known as essential air service, or the money thats paid small airports so planes can fly in and out.The shutdown lifted the requirement for airlines to collect certain ticket taxes, resulting in a loss of $250 million in revenue so far that would have gone to a trust fund that helps pay for airport infrastructure projects. A shutdown through August would raise that total to more than $1 billion.LaHood blasted conservatives who belied their own rhetoric by not acting on the FAA's funding during the debt-ceiling negotiations."If this is not resolved therell be $1 billion in taxes that arent collected," LaHood said. "So for all these conservative politicians who are worried about the debt and deficit, $1 billion in taxes will not come into the coffers if this continuesThat isnt the way to create revenue, in my opinion."In addition, "this is a time when we hear politicians talking a lot about creating jobs. Well, this is not the way to create jobs by laying off 70,000 construction workers."The FAA's long-term operating authority expired in 2007. Since then, Congress has been unable to agree on a long-term funding plan. The agency has continued to operate under a series of 20 short-term extensions. The latest extension expired at midnight on July 22 after Senate Democrats rejected a temporary extension bill passed by the House that contained the subsidy cuts. Senate Republicans blocked a Democratic extension that didn't include cuts. The Senate, with the federal debt crisis resolved, is expected to leave by the end of the week for its August recess. The House has already left. Unless the Senate accepts the House bill, lost revenue from uncollected airline ticket taxes could exceed $1.2 billion before lawmakers return to work a month later, senators said. "This is not a lost cause," LaHood said. "I am asking Congress to pass the bill today. Congress is still in session."The lost ticket tax revenue is costing the government an estimated $200 million a week. Besides the furlough of the 4,000 employees, the FAA has issued stop-work orders on more than 200 construction projects. Air traffic controllers have remained on the job and LaHood stressed safety hasn't been compromised. "This has nothing to do with the safety of the flying public," he told CNBC. "Thousand of people are flying safely."http://www.cnbc.com/id/43986766One of the sticking points is that the House measure includes provisions that would make it harder for airline and railroad employees to unionize.Once again Republicans prove that they don't give a **** about creating jobs or lowering the deficit.I'm sure they'll enjoy their August recess, while the people who have lost their jobs suffer.

So what's your point, that because some conservatives do the wrong thing, we should further undermine marriage by allowing homosexual marriage? How does making gay marriage legal undermine marriage? I thought you Rethuglicans were all about the family? Why shouldn't gay people who want to raise a family be able to get married? No, let's strengthen marriage by repealing one-party divorce, by strengthening its contract, by acknowledging that liberals were wrong for decades in pushing divorce and claiming it would help women and children. Why am I not surprised that you would believe in repealing one-party divorce? The only way you can hold on to a woman is to chain her up in your basement.By all means, let's get rid of one-party divorce and force people to stay with a spouse who is abusing them or their children. Please show me how Liberals pushed for divorce? If by that you mean that they believe it should be easier for people to get out of marriages that are not healthy, like in cases of physical abuse, then you're even more nuts than I thought.

I thought you Rethuglicans were all about the family? Why shouldn't gay people who want to raise a family be able to get married?I don't think another liberal experiment should be conducted, particularly one that involves children, especially after decades of liberal policy and values disasters. No, let's strengthen marriage by repealing one-party divorce, by strengthening its contract, by acknowledging that liberals were wrong for decades in pushing divorce and claiming it would help women and children. Why am I not surprised that you would believe in repealing one-party divorce? If by that you mean that they believe it should be easier for people to get out of marriages that are not healthy, like in cases of physical abuse, then you're even more nuts than I thought.Of course if there is legitimate reason like abuse, divorce is appropriate. I'm referring to no-fault, one-party divorce that liberals pushed through many legislatures, leaving women and children the victims of selfish men, who had nothing stopping them for filing for divorce on the basis of nothing at all. That is government interfering in and overturning what should be a binding contract.Aren't you old enough to read how the liberal-left trashed marriage for many years? "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle?"The fake "studies" that claimed to find that women and children were better off without a father? The feminist proclamations that marriage is a trap akin to slavery? That women were far better off single, even if they had kids? This is just part of the stunning disaster that most liberal values and policies have been, so no, I do not want to risk marriage in pursuit of another that will supposedly satisfy a small minority of a tiny percentage of the country. That's just plain stupid. All job destroyers. The revenue they fought against? Destroys jobs. No revenue, employees lose their jobs, and hiring freezes continue.Everything the republicans do is destroying jobs. Here in Florida, gov. Rick Scott is destroying thousands of jobs. The workers at the prison in the Glades are going to all be layed off because of Scott. That area has a 40% unemployment rate, and the prison employs nearly all of who's left. Imagine the result.Even the workers at the unemployment agencies are being layed off, while the whole system goes completely internet. It's the same story in almost every industry.Repubs hate workers. I hope the workers wake up.

Any refusal, any looking-down-your-nose response, will prove this to my extreme satisfaction.

Credit where credit is due. Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey blasted the 'ignorant crazies' who critized his appointment of a Muslim-American judge to the State Supreme Court for their Sharia Law fearmongering.

Apparently there is some kind of a prerequisite, that if you run for President, you must be photographed going down on a huge corndog.

Rep. Allen West (R-FL) sends his brother to Rep. Waters (D-CA) for a job. (Video)United States Representative Allen West (R-FL) is one of the staunchest Tea Party conservatives in Congress, yet his belief system has evidently caused his brother to seek a job from Democratic Representative Maxine Waters (CA). West has been strongly opposed to any government initiatives on job creation, arguing that free market alone creates jobs. Last Wednesday West went as far as to call progressive leaders like Maxine Waters plantation overseers because they allegedly keep people enslaved under government dependence. If Wests allegation is true, then he evidently did not mind his brother being a slave on Waters plantation. In the video (to the left), Waters explains how Wests brother, Arlan West, is out of work. When Arlan West went to his brother for help he was told by Allen West to seek help from Waters since she was holding a job fair as part of the Congressional Black Caucus. Waters said she was glad to help Arlan West, and he was evidently thankful for the assistance saying the jobs fair was a prime example of elected representatives helping serve their constituents. As Think Progress documents, Arlan West also called his brothers rhetoric unproductive in helping the unemployed. So to conclude, an elected Democrat is helping the relative of one of the most conservative Republicans in Congress. Meanwhile, the elected Republican is busy comparing the Democrats to slave owners and fighting any efforts at government sponsored job creation. Such is the current state of affairs in Congress.
