Anti-Trump ‘dossier’ was all about foreign interference in a US election
By David Harsanyi June 17, 2019 | 9:42pm | Updated----------
.... Everyone in the Beltway already knows that you don’t listen to foreign opposition research. No, sir. You farm out that job to the party’s national committee, high-powered partisan law firms and friendly media outlets.
This is what the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign did when they paid research firm Fusion GPS and former British intelligence operative Christopher Steele to compile a dossier of uncorroborated raw “intelligence” — some of it derived from Kremlin sources — that fueled allegations that their opponent was colluding with a foreign power to steal the presidential election in 2016.
It was the DNC and Clinton campaign that passed information that had been garnered from overseas sources to Obama administration intelligence and law enforcement agencies, which then used the “evidence” to bolster secret warrants and send “cloaked investigators” to infiltrate the Trump campaign.

“Thank you very much for coming.
These four very courageous women have asked to be here and it was our honor to help them.
And I think they’re each going to make just an individual, short statement.
And then will do a little meeting, and we will see you at the debate.”
With those words, candidate Donald Trump kicked off a news conference just hours before the second presidential debate on Oct. 9, 2016.
The brainchild of Stephen K. Bannon, Trump’s campaign chief, the gathering was an effort to blunt the impact of the now-notorious “Access Hollywood” tape, unearthed two days before, on which Trump had boasted of grabbing women by their genitals and doing “anything” to them that he liked.
Sitting with Trump were four women, three of whom claimed to have been subjected to Bill Clinton’s unwelcome sexual advances.
One, in particular, was sitting just to Trump’s right.
Her name was Juanita Broaddrick. And she made an accusation of criminal sexual assault.
“Mr. Trump may have said some bad words,” she said, “but Bill Clinton raped me.”
The next night, at a campaign rally in Ambridge, Pa., Trump quoted Broaddrick as saying “Hillary Clinton threatened me after Bill Clinton raped me,” and called Bill Clinton “a predator,” “the worst abuser of women ever to sit in the Oval Office.”
Broaddrick had told her story nearly two decades earlier, first to the media, and then later in a book.
She had recounted how, in 1978, Clinton asked her up to his hotel room.
How he allegedly forced himself upon her.
How she tried to pull away. How he allegedly bit her lip, then later told her to put ice on it.
How she sobbed. How she told some of her friends. How she didn’t tell the police. Clinton denied her accusations.
Republicans and conservatives rallied to her cause then, and they did so once again in 2016.
Democrats and liberals, not so much — although in the wake of the #MeToo movement, some have since acknowledged the credibility of Broaddrick’s claim.
But today there’s another woman with a similar allegation, against a different powerful man.
Her name is E. Jean Carroll.
She, too, says that she was raped — by Donald Trump.
She, too, tells a story about how she was alone with a man.
How in 1995 or 1996 that man, Trump, allegedly forced himself upon her.
How she tried to fight back. How she tried to push him away and tried to stomp on his foot.
How he penetrated her. How she ran out the door. How she told friends. How she didn’t tell the police.
Trump also denied the accusations, calling them “fake news” and adding, “She is trying to sell a new book — that should indicate her motivation. It should be sold in the fiction section.”
But Trump called Broaddrick “courageous,” and if Broaddrick was courageous, then certainly Carroll is as well. For Carroll’s story is at least as compelling as Broaddrick’s — if not more so.
And that is because Carroll’s claim, for a number of reasons, actually rests upon a significantly stronger foundation than Broaddrick’s.
For one thing, before she went public with her story, Broaddrick had repeatedly denied that Clinton had assaulted her, even under oath: In an affidavit she had submitted in Paula Jones’s sexual harassment case against Clinton, Broaddrick had sworn that the allegations “that Mr. Clinton had made unwelcome sexual advances toward me in the late seventies … are untrue,” that the press had previously sought “corroboration of these tales,” but that she had “repeatedly denied the allegations.”
(Disclosure: I provided behind-the-scenes pro bono legal assistance to Jones’s lawyers.)
For another, Carroll’s account is supported by the sheer number of claims that have now surfaced against Trump — claims in which women have accused Trump of engaging in unwelcome or forcible sexual conduct or assault against them.
These claims — all denied by the president — far outnumber the publicized sexual misconduct incidents that involved Clinton, which mostly concerned rumors or allegations of consensual affairs.
And as if to bring things full circle, Carroll’s account is also of course supported by Trump’s depraved remarks on the “Access Hollywood” video, of which there was simply no equivalent in Broaddrick’s case.
Whatever else he may have done, Clinton never made a video like that.
What Trump described on the video is exactly what Carroll says he did to her.
Finally, no controversy involving Trump would be complete without at least one utterly brazen, easily disprovable Trumpian lie.
In his statement denying the rape allegation, he added the claim that “I’ve never met this person in my life.”
If Trump had even bothered to glance at Carroll’s published account, he would have seen a photograph of himself and his then-wife, Ivana, from 1987 ― in which he was amiably chatting with Carroll and her then-husband.
By making the absurd and mendacious assertion that he never even met Carroll, Trump utterly annihilates the credibility of his claim that he didn’t assault her.
Republicans or conservatives who promoted Broaddrick’s charges would be hypocritical if they fail to champion Carroll and condemn Trump.

He's transforming us into a Banana Republic that abuses little children and a country that is a disgrace on the world stage.

That is no ones fault but his.
He makes the policy, not ICE, Border Patrol or HUD.
Trump warned your corrupt party that there was an emergency at the border, but Democrat Talking Point Liars like you claimed he was lying.
And your party did squat.

Cruelty is the policy.Elora Mukherjee, is a professor at Columbia Law School and the director of the school’s Immigrants’ Rights Clinic.
She has been working on the Flores settlement, an agreement that outlines how the U.S. government must care for unaccompanied migrant children, since 2007.
Elora Mukherjee: I have been representing and interviewing immigrant children and their families in detention.
Most recently, I was in Brownsville, Texas, interviewing children detained at Casa Padre last July. In March of this year, I was in Homestead, Florida, interviewing children detained there.
Both of those facilities were very controversial and have received a lot of coverage.
Last week I was in Clint, and the conditions we found were appalling.
In 12 years representing immigrant children in detention, I have never seen such degradation and inhumanity. Children were dirty, they were scared, and they were hungry.
An overwhelming number of children who I interviewed had not had an opportunity for a stable shower or bath since crossing the border [days or weeks earlier].
They were wearing the same clothing that they had crossed the border in.
Their clothing was covered in bodily fluids, including urine and breast milk for the teenage moms who are breastfeeding.
Nearly every child I spoke with said that they were hungry because they’re being given insufficient food.
The food at Clint is rationed on trays. Everyone gets an identical tray regardless of if you’re a 1-year-old, or you’re a 17-year-old, or a breastfeeding teenage mother who has higher caloric needs.
The same food is served every single day, and none of the children receive any fruit and vegetables or any milk.
When I interview children in detention, I try to sit near them so that we can have a better conversation about very traumatic, sensitive, difficult topics.
Usually that leaves the children crying.
At Clint, I found that hard to do because there was a stench emanating from some of the children.
It was filthy and disgusting and there was, as of last week, a flu epidemic at Clint and a lice infestation.
And children do not have the ability to wash their hands with soap at Clint.

I guess all 16 Trump accusers are not credible.
Yes, she is writing a book, but Trump is just one small part of it.
She has two contemporaneous witnesses, which were interviewed for the article in The New Yorker.
So I guess she is a psychic who knew 24 years ago that Trump would one day be president, so she made up a story back then about him raping her and told it to two people.
I know.......they're not credible either.
They just hate Trump.
It's not like we have all heard him on tape saying something like this or anything.

Former Fox News reporter says he left because of 'partisan misinformation'
Former Fox News reporter Carl Cameron said Monday that he left the network favored by conservatives because "right-wing hosts drowned out straight journalism with partisan misinformation."
Cameron made the remarks in a promotional video about why he joined Front Page Live, a website whose goal is, in part, to serve as an antidote to the conservative Drudge Report.
"What’s a former Fox guy doing here on Front Page Live partnering with progressives?"
Cameron, who worked at Fox News for more than two decades, said in the video. "Well, it’s about facts, not partisanship."
Cameron, now Front Page Live's chief political correspondent, said he joined Fox News in its early days because the "idea of fair and balanced news appealed to me."
"But over the years, the right-wing hosts drowned out straight journalism with partisan misinformation.
I left," he added before noting that he has "unique insight and understanding of how the right operates and literally 30 years of covering Donald Trump."
Cameron said his job at Front Page Live will be to "inform — that's it" and touted the new website as "a powerful resource for anyone who wants real facts over partisan propaganda."
Cameron retired from Fox News in 2017 after serving for 22 years as one of its chief political correspondents.
He said in an email to colleagues at the time that he was "immensely grateful for the relationships, experiences, and many lessons over the last two decades,” TVNewser reported.
Cameron told The Washington Post that he had a lot of "respect for the people that try to do journalism" at Fox News.
He added that he kept his "personal beliefs very very to myself" during his time at the network.
Cameron teamed up with Joseph Romm, the founding editor of ClimateProgress, to create Front Page Live, the Post reported.
The organization describes itself as "a site dedicated to helping diverse voices and content go viral, and a news source that reflects the values of the majority of good people on our amazing planet."
"Part of our goal is to be an antidote to the Drudge Report. But whereas Drudge aggregates and viralizes right-wing content, which includes a lot of disinformation and climate science denial, we will aim to aggregate and viralize accurate news," Romm, who serves as editor-in-chief and CEO, said in a statement to The Hill.
"We are 'liberal' only in the sense that climate science has been labeled 'liberal' by climate science deniers."
"We are trying to be a place that will save people time because it’s simply way too hard for anyone to sip quality water from the open fire hydrant that is online news and social media — especially because there is so much sewage thrown in," he added.
Romm told the Post that he views the organization as a "viralizing engine" for the left.
The site will reportedly be populated with audience-tested headlines.
Cameron also said in the promo video that stories will include "act now" buttons for people to get involved in campaigns related to particular topics.
