N.Y.C. Tenants Say They Were Tricked Into Appearing in R.N.C. Video

“I am not a Trump supporter,” one of the tenants said, adding that she was furious that her interview with a government official was used for the convention.

Image

It started with an unexpected call last week from Lynne Patton, a longtime Trump associate who oversees federal housing programs in New York.

Ms. Patton told a leader of a tenants’ group at the New York City Housing Authority, the nation’s largest, that she was interested in speaking with residents about conditions in the authority’s buildings, which have long been in poor repair.

Four tenants soon assembled in front of a video camera and were interviewed for more than four hours by Ms. Patton herself.

Three of the tenants said they were never told that their interviews would be edited into a two-minute video clip that would air prominently on Thursday night at the Republican National Convention and be used to bash Mayor Bill de Blasio, the three tenants said in interviews on Friday.

“I am not a Trump supporter,” said one of the tenants, Claudia Perez.

“I am not a supporter of his racist policies on immigration.

I am a first-generation Honduran. It was my people he was sending back.”

These are not the only people who were tricked into appearing at the RNC.
Two of the people who were naturalized at the WH, said they were not told that their naturalization ceremony would be shown at the RNC.

Lynne Patton, who now oversees federal housing programs in NY, and was formerly Eric Trump's wedding planner is another one of the many government employees who violated the Hatch Act.

4 people test positive for COVID-19 at GOP convention in Charlotte

At least four people who were at Monday’s Republican National Convention meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, tested positive for COVID-19, according to county officials.

Two attendees and two other "individuals supporting the event" tested positive for COVID-19 and were immediately isolated, according to an official release North Carolina's Mecklenburg County posted on Friday.

A Republican spokesperson told ABC News a number of safety precautions were put in place that included testing all attendees both before traveling to Charlotte and, upon arrival, contact tracing protocols were followed.

While wearing masks and social distancing were encouraged, they were not enforced. "Out of roughly 1,000 tests administered, two RNC attendees, despite having negative tests prior to travel, and two Charlotte locals who planned to serve as event support staff tested positive upon arrival.

All were sent home," RNC Communications Director Michael Ahrens told ABC News.

Trump held a super spreader event at the WH last night and another one in New Hampshire today, where people booed when they were asked to put on their masks.
Pretending that the virus no longer exists will not make it go away.

How do you know how many people were there? You certainly couldn't tell from the video. I think he had a right to be concerned based on the video of blm and antifa attacking innocent people. Not to mention his wife was with him which probably made it doubly worrisome.

Why was he walking through a crowd of protesters anyway?

LEAKED DOCUMENTS SHOW POLICE KNEW FAR-RIGHT EXTREMISTS WERE THE REAL THREAT AT PROTESTS, NOT “ANTIFA”

AS PROTESTS AGAINST police violence spread to every state in the U.S. and dramatic images flooded in from cities across the country, President Donald Trump and his attorney general spun an ominous story of opportunistic leftists exploiting a national trauma to sow chaos and disorder.

They were the anti-fascists known as “antifa”, and according to the administration they were domestic terrorists who would be policed accordingly.

But while the White House beat the drum for a crackdown on a leaderless movement on the left, law enforcement offices across the country were sharing detailed reports of far-right extremists seeking to attack the protesters and police during the country’s historic demonstrations, a trove of newly leaked documents reveals.

Among the steady stream of threats from the far-right were repeated encounters between law enforcement and heavily armed adherents of the so-called boogaloo movement, which welcomes armed confrontation with cops as means to trigger civil war.

With much of the U.S. policing apparatus on the hunt for antifa instigators, those violent aspirations appear to have materialized in a string of targeted attacks in California that left a federal protective services officer and a sheriff’s deputy dead and several other law enforcement officials wounded.

The cache of law enforcement materials was recently hacked and posted online under the title “BlueLeaks,” providing an unprecedented look at the communications between state, local, and federal law enforcement in the face of the nationwide protests.

In an analysis of nearly 300 documents that reference “antifa,” The Intercept found repeated instances of antifa and left-wing protesting activities cast in cartoonishly grim terms alongside more substantive reports of lethal right-wing violence and threats that have received scant mention from top Trump administration officials.

“Throughout the documents you see counterterrorism agencies using extremism so broadly as to mean virtually anything that encompasses dissent,” Hina Shamsi, director of the ACLU’s National Security Project, told The Intercept.

“There are instances in which people engaging in white supremacist violence get the benefit of the doubt as potential lone offenders, while people of color and those who dissent against government injustice are smeared as threats with guilt by association.”

Michael German, a former FBI agent specializing in domestic terrorism and current fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice, said the materials were rife with examples of law enforcement intelligence being politicized in ways that endangered both protesters and police alike.

“Terrorism is distinguished from other violence by its political nature and, as a result, counterterrorism is often highly politicized as well,” German told The Intercept.

“Here we’re seeing where this politicization of counterterrorism is being reflected in intelligence documents that are going out and are intended to inform state and local law enforcement on the ground.”

He added: “Overall, what you see is a strange sensationalization of the antifa threats — and that doesn’t exist when looking at the boogaloo documents.”

Yeah, don't anyone believe their lying eyes that leftist groups ANTIFA, BLM and others are responsible for almost all the rioting and violence.

A, giggle,"leaked document" claims otherwise, and if something is leaked, you have to believe it! Image
I love psychotic moonbat humor. Image
So you can tell that people are ANTIFA or BLM just by looking at them?
That's a good trick.

It has been proven that right wing groups like militias or white supremacists are infiltrating the peaceful protests in order to stoke the violence, because their goal is to start a civil war or a race war.

Remember 'umbrella man' who was smashing windows at the start of the protests in Minneapolis?
He was NOT ANTIFA or BLM.

He was part of a white supremacist group who specifically sought to inflame racial tensions.

And there are many more just like him, which you of course will never acknowledge, because it doesn't fit your agenda.

Weatherford,  Texas Police Chief Lance Arnold On The Protests In His City

“It seems like we as a country have moved right past the discussion phase of things and now we just are at the stage of conflict, being at odds, distrust and disbelief,” said Lance Arnold, the police chief in Weatherford, Tex.

“This is not who we are, and it’s almost like we are living in a different time and a different place.”
[.....]
Arnold has identified several heavily armed counterprotesters and far-right groups that he believes had members involved in recent conflicts in Weatherford, including the Oath Keepers and the Texas Freedom Fighters.

Arnold said the numbers of counterprotesters are being swelled by “a bunch of ordinary individuals” who are now physically engaging protesters and activists whose politics they do not agree with.

Large crowds are being mobilized online after inflammatory and often false information is posted online by what Arnold described as “fake social media accounts.”

“They are accounts that have been created within the last month or so, do not have a picture or other identifiers that you could use to believe they are more legitimate accounts,” said Arnold.

The social media posts are quickly spread, including by self-described militias and more-mainstream conservative groups, and they often give the impression that a specific community faces imminent danger or the potential for violence, Arnold said.

They often use images from past protests or riots in other cities combined with phrases such as, “This is happening in Weatherford right now,” he said.

Other social memes falsely claimed that police were asking residents to “come assist us,” Arnold added.

“It’s extremely worrisome, because it creates a level of fear,” Arnold said, adding that he is working with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the FBI to identify who is creating the misinformation.

“And it creates an environment that is rife for violence between various groups.”

Federal Judge finds Texas guilty of violating vote registration law for a second time.

A federal judge has found the state of Texas guilty of violating the National Voter Registration Act for a second time by not allowing residents to register to vote when they update their driver’s license information online.

68-page ruling by U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia ruled that the state is legally obligated to let voters register to vote any time they renew their license or register a new address.

The ruling comes after Texas resident Jarrod Stringer, a former English professor, was denied the right to register to vote while renewing his drivers license online, reports the Texas Tribune.

Stringer originally thought that he had registered back in 2014, and sued the state after being turned away at the polls when he went to vote at the University of Austin in San Antonio.

In 2018, Garcia ruled that the State of Texas violated the National Voter Registration Act, which requires states to let residents reregister when they renew or apply for a drivers license, and also violated the Constitution’s guarantee of equal protection.

Garcia ordered the state to create its first online voter registration system, but his ruling was overturned in 2019 when another judge said that since Stringer and other plaintiffs had ultimately re-registered to vote, the case was moot.

Then, in January, Stringer filed a second lawsuit when he wasn’t able to update his information with his Houston address.

Garcia, once again presiding over the case, said “DPS encourages Texans to use its online services to renew their driver’s license and change their address because it is easier and more convenient.

“It cannot, at the same time, deny simultaneous voter registration applications when those online services are used.”

As of Friday, Garcia ruled that the State of Texas “offered no factual or legal argument that would justify denying the simultaneous voter registration to which Mr. Stringer is legally entitled.”

There is no other reason for Trump to have re-Tweeted this video of a black man pushing a white woman on the NYC subway, than to stoke racial hatred.
He's trying to incite a race war.

Great, great job at getting  the issue backwards.

So you think that the caravans of Trump's followers pepper spraying protesters and shooting them with paint ball guns is going to help?

Trump re-Tweeted a video of that and praised them for doing it.
He is pouring gasoline on the fire.
