Isabel, you keep calling what Kelliak is saying "the dirty slut argument."While I think he could have worded it more nicely, it does have truth to it.Sex = babies, and if you're going to have sex, you need to take responsibilities.Misty, while I include men in the "taking responsibility" part of that statement, young men aren't always...reliable? when it comes to that. Sorry, guys.I get a $25 DEPO shot every 3 months. If you can't pay the $25, there are ways to get itfor free. While every woman who has sex isn't a dirty slut, we can certainly cut down on the numberof abortions if everyone having sex would just use BC. It's not an unrealistic request.

It's not an unrealistic request.I agree with you Thrash, but if you read some of Kelliak's posts in here, you'll see that he is very hard on women when it comes to unwanted pregnancies, and never once mentioned anything about the men who engage in unprotected sex. Sorry, I'm not letting the men off the hook that easy. For every unwanted pregnancy, there is a male component as well as a female.I applaud you for being so responsible, and I was always that way too, before my hubby got snipped. But unfortunately not all people act the same way. And BC does sometimes fail.If Kelliak is so anti-abortion, then he should be telling his male counterparts to wrap it up.

All this whining by Republicans about rampant voter fraud, which they can't prove, but just know is occurring, is nothing but a red herring to distract us from who is really trying to steal the election.Did you read "Stealing Elections" by John Fund yet?Oh gosh, that's right. You dishonestly smeared him rather than acknowledge the massive mostly Democrat-committed voter fraud he documented extensively.Say, I was really impressed how The Chosen One clobbered Romney last night. At Last Night’s Debate: Romney Told 27 Myths In 38 MinutesThink Progress, that wackjob far left group? Why are you citing them?Didn't you many times deny being an extremist and insist you're a mainstream liberal? You weren't lying, were you? Naaaah!! Edited by RichClem, 04 October 2012 - 12:53 PM.

Mexican Cafe Gets Death Threats After Refusing Romney Visit The Mormon owners of a Mexican cafe in Denver say that they have gotten death threats, hate calls and fake orders after refusing to allow Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to make campaign stop at their restaurant. "One person who called said, 'Watch your back. We know where live and we're going after you,'" Oscar Aguirre, the son of the owners of Rosa Linda Mexican Cafe, told KMGH New Media Producer Wayne Harrison. "We just didn't want our business used as a campaign stop." Aguirre explained that callers had been misinformed that the restaurant had refused to serve Romney. "It was presented to us that [Romney] wanted to do a political stump here," he told the station. "[He wanted to] talk about our small business [and] because we share our religious views with the candidate and are Latinos it would be great for him to do a campaign stop." "We did say 'no' because we are not Republicans, nor are we Democrats. We will welcome any sitting President of the United States. But, we did not want to be a campaign stop." The Mexican Cafe has also been flooded with fake orders and canceled reservations, according to Aguirre. "Two people ordered $150 worth of food for lunch to be picked up today. They called later and said, 'Oh, you're the one who doesn't want Romney in your business' and they canceled their orders, even though the food had been prepared," he recalled. Aguirre said that the trouble began after an article published by Denver Westword earlier this week reported that their mother had refused the Romney campaign's offer because "religion and politics don't mix." "Since this article came out we have been getting hate emails, from people across the country, people sending us death threats and people calling us telling us we are racist... that they hope we go out of business," Aguirre wrote in a letter on Wednesday. "If we do go out of business our Annual Thanksgiving Feast to the needy would end. Last year we fed 5500 meals, this year we may serve above 6000 meals." "Please let the American public know that we are not racist or bigots. We are just a working family wanting to help our community and our country by serving those in need," he added. "PLEASE STOP THE HATE!!"

91 Are Charged With Fraud, Billing Millions to MedicareWASHINGTON (Reuters) Ninety-one people including doctors, nurses and other medical professionals were charged criminally after an investigation of Medicare fraud that involved $430 million in false billing in seven cities, officials said on Thursday. It was the governments second big raid in recent months after a similar investigation in May involving $452 million in possible fraud in Medicare, the health program for the elderly and disabled. The accusations include billing the government for unnecessary ambulance rides in California, writing prescriptions for patients in Dallas who did not qualify for them and paying kickbacks like food and cigarettes to patients in Houston if they attended programs for which a hospital could bill. The investigation is part of an effort by the Obama administration to find health care savings. Indictments against the 91 defendants were unsealed on Thursday after a coordinated investigation led by the departments of justice and of Health and Human Services, officials said. Most of the 91 surrendered or were arrested. Those charged were trying to make a living by defrauding Medicare and its sibling program, Medicaid, which insures the poor, the officials said. Of the 91 people charged this week, 33 were involved in false billing in the Miami area. In separate cases, people were accused of improperly billing the government for home health and mental health services. Officials said they had found an additional $42 million in improper claims at a Houston hospital, Riverside General, where they earlier said they had found $116 million in fraud. In those cases officials said patients had received cigarettes and other kickbacks if they attended a partial hospitalization program. Some patients watched TV instead of receiving services there, the government said. Riverside Generals president was among seven employees facing charges on Thursday. Later on Thursday, a Riverside General clerk read a statement by phone saying the hospitals board was saddened as to the tactics utilized against this hospital but backed its president, Earnest Gibson III. The board was awaiting legal advice and had no further comment, she said. Link

Jack Welch says he has absolutely no evidence that the Bureau of Labor Statistics is cooking the books to favor President Obama, but he stands by his tweet accusing 'these Chicago guys' and the BLS of doing just that anyway, thus setting off the rest of the crazies like Allen West, Republican Congressman from Florida.Watch Jack Welch Brings The CrazyFrom Bloomberg News:Jack Welch Doesnt Know What Hes Tweeting AboutAre Republicans really this desperate? After months of attacking President Barack Obama for not bringing down the unemployment rate fast enough, Jack Welch, the former chief executive officer of General Electric Co., took the rhetoric to a new level this morning with the suggestion that Obama's campaign had somehow monkeyed with the unemployment data for political gain. Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything..cant debate so change numbers, Welch tweeted right after the U.S. Labor Department reported the unemployment rate had dropped to 7.8 percent as the economy added 114,000 jobs in September. His comments were seized upon by conservative pundits and personalities, including CNBC's Tea Party captain -- Rick Santelli -- who said, "I told you they'd get it under 8 percent -- they did!" One can find flaws in the jobless data: It's based on a survey of individual households -- which means it's not concrete -- and is often revised up or down in subsequent months. It can also, as this study points out, substantially underestimate labor force participation of those near retirement age and overestimate for other demographics. But a political tool it is not. As my Bloomberg News colleague Hans Nichols has meticulously detailed, the statistics used to determine the unemployment rate are cobbled together by a host of government bureaucrats, including census workers who knock on doors to find out if a person worked the previous week and economists at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Together they compile such sexy statistics as "Employed persons by class of worker and part-time status." The BLS -- which has political appointees at the top but is largely an organization of rank-and-file government workers -- transmits the data to the president's Council of Economic Advisers, which shares the data with Treasury and Federal Reserve economists and then the president. As Betsey Stevenson, former chief economist at the Labor Department and a Bloomberg View columnist, tweeted: "Anyone who thinks that political folks can manipulate the unempt data are completely ignorant about how BLS works & how data are compiled." Imagine, for a moment, that this could be done: Would Obama have waited until now -- five weeks before the election -- to monkey with the numbers? And would he have taken the jobless number down so incrementally? Today's unemployment report was chock-full of good numbers, but it was not a Hail Mary pass. The economy added 114,000 jobs last month -- a strong showing indeed but still barely enough to keep up with the number of people who want to work. It also included some dark clouds, including the long-term unemployment rate, which was little changed at 4.8 million. That means 40.1 percent of the unemployed -- or two out of every five job-seekers -- have been out of work for six months or longer. In fact, the report was so lackluster in the eyes of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney that he sent an e-mail blast saying, "This is not what a real recovery looks like." And, as House Speaker John Boehner pointed out, "Administration officials said unemployment would be as low as 5.6 percent by now if Congress passed their stimulus spending bill -- instead, after four years of spending, taxing, and red tape, millions of Americans remain jobless, underemployed, or have simply given up looking for work." Next time the BLS tries to monkey with the unemployment rate, they may want to aim a little lower.http://www.bloomberg...ting-about.html

Jobs Truthers Are Wrong: Unemployment Numbers Cant Be CookedForget it, conspiracy theorists. Critics are accusing President Obama of manipulating the figures, but Bureau of Labor Statistics data cant be cooked. The unambiguously positive jobs report, which showed 114,000 new jobs created in September and the unemployment rate dropping to 7.8 percent from last months 8.1 percent, caused some predictable reactions. Elation on the liberal side, sober assessment from the center. And conspiracies from the right. Jack Welch, Congressman Allen West, Joe Scarborough, a collection of Fox News hosts, and a motley crew on Twitter all seemed to conclude there was something fishy about the report: the fix is in.Jack Welch, the former General Electric CEO, was perhaps first out the gate, even speculating about a possible conspiracy theory last night, when he tweeted Tomorrow employment numbers for Sept. with all the assumptions Labor Dept. can make..wonder about participation assumption?? And when the news came in, it was certain: Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything.. cant debate so change numbers. Thats pretty rich, considering Welchs GE was known for producing quarterly earnings results that were just right. Is there any reason to believe Welch and his fellow brave truth tellers? No.Betsey Stevenson, the former chief economist in the Labor Department, wrote this morning, Anyone who thinks that political folks can manipulate the unemployment data are completely ignorant about how BLS works and how data are compiled. Alan Krueger, the chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers and one of the nations preeminent labor economists, told Bloomberg today, No serious person would question the integrity of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. These numbers are put together by career employees. They use the same process every month. So I think comments like that are irresponsible. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the division of the Labor Department responsible for the monthly job report, is incredibly scrupulous in how it compiles and presents the unemployment data. The bureaus acting head, Jack Galvin, has been at the BLS since 1979 and is a career nerd who ran its employment data collection and analysis from 1998 to 2011. The data, which come from surveys of households and employers, arrives at the BLS on the Wednesday of the week before the report is released. During the eight days they assemble the data, the BLS team uses encrypted computers and locks the information in a safe whenever they leave the conference room where the entire team is working. Some senior members of the presidents economic team get a peek at the data, but only on the afternoon before it is released Friday morning. The conspiracy theorists might sound less loony if the data in this report were particularly surprising. But theyre not. While the decline in unemployment is a solid 0.3 percent and takes the rate below the psychological landmark of 8 percent, it is not necessarily inconsistent with past data showing consistent, but not particularly high, job growth. The drop in the rate isnt unprecedented either; in fact, theres something about September, maybe seasonal hiring, that brings up the jobs numbers. For the numbers to be manipulated, career officials at the BLSwho are not Obama appointees and are part of a department with an overwhelming ethos of being nonpoliticalwould have to manipulate two surveys. Theyd have to manipulate the establishment survey, which comes from employers and provides the payroll-jobs figure of 114,000 posts added. Then theyd have to manipulate the survey data from households, which showed a 873,000 rise in total employment. The last time the BLS was accused of fudging the numbers in a political context was when Richard Nixon thought a Jewish cabal of Labor Department civil servants were out to make him look bad. Really. Most importantly, even if the administration were somehow manipulating the data, then theyre doing a terrible job at it. Only with this months data has the unemployment rate dropped below the level it was at when Obama was inaugurated. And it wouldnt really be all that surprising to anyone if the rate went back up to 8 percent next month. The last time the BLS was accused of fudging the numbers in a political context was when Richard Nixon thought a Jewish cabal of Labor Department civil servants were out to make him look bad. Finally, look at the revisions. Just last week, the BLS released a preliminary revision to a years worth of jobs data showing that the employment level was actually 386,000 higher than they previously estimated. I imagine the campaign team in Chicago would rather have had that 386,000 spread out over 12 months of jobs reports. The BLS also always goes back and revises the monthly reports. The best example is August 2011. The initial report said the economy had added zero jobs. That number was revised up 57,000, and then with a second revision, the final number was 104,000 jobs created. But did that change the initial headlines about job growth foundering or the mistake the widespread impression that the economic recovery had skidded out? The answer to that question is the same as the answer to whether the Labor Department is cooking the books.http://www.thedailyb...employment.html

An Open Letter From Minnesota Vikings Punter Chris Kluwe to Maryland State Delegate Emmett Burns Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo has voiced his support for a Maryland ballot initiative that would legalize same-sex marriage in the state. In response, Maryland state delegate Emmett C. Burns, Jr. (D-Baltimore) wrote a letter to Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti urging him to "inhibit such expressions from your employee." In the open letter below, Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe responds to Burns.Dear Emmett C. Burns, Jr.,I find it inconceivable that you are an elected official of the United States government. Your vitriolic hatred and bigotry make me ashamed and disgusted to think that you are in any way responsible for shaping policy at any level. The views you espouse neglect to consider several fundamental key points, which I will outline in great detail:1. As I suspect you have not read the Constitution, I would like to remind you that the very first amendment in this founding document deals with the freedom of speech, particularly the abridgment of said freedom. By using your position as an elected official (when referring to your constituents in order to implicitly threaten the Ravens organization) to argue that the Ravens should silence Brendon Ayanbadejo from voicing his support for same-sex marriage, not only are you clearly violating the First Amendment, but you come across as a narcissistic fromunda stain. What on Earth would possess you to say something so mind-boggingly stupid? It baffles me that a man such as yourself, a man who relies on that same First Amendment to pursue your own religious studies without fear of persecution from the state, could somehow justify stifling another person's right to free speech. To call that "hypocritical" would be to do a disservice to the word. "****, obscenely hypocritical" starts to approach it a little bit. 2. You wrote, "Many of your fans are opposed to such a view and feel it has no place in a sport that is strictly for pride, entertainment and excitement." Holy banned word ****. Did you seriously just say that, as someone who is, according to your Wikipedia page, "deeply involved in government task forces on the legacy of slavery in Maryland"? Have you not heard of Kenny Washington? Jackie Robinson? As recently as 1962 the NFL still had segregation, which was only done away with by brave athletes and coaches daring to speak their mind and do the right thing, and you're going to say that political views have "no place in a sport"? I can't even begin to fathom the cognitive dissonance that must be coursing through your rapidly addled mind right now; the mental gymnastics your brain has to tortuously contort itself through to make such a preposterous statement are surely worthy of an Olympic gold medal (the Russian judge gives you a 10 for "beautiful oppressionism"). 3. This is more a personal quibble of mine, but why do you hate freedom? Why do you hate the fact that other people want a chance to live their lives and be happy, even though they may believe in something different from what you believe, or act differently from you? How does gay marriage affect your life in any way, shape, or form? Are you worried that if gay marriage became legal, all of a sudden you'd start thinking about banned word? ("Oh ****. Gay marriage just passed. Gotta get me some of that hot dong action!") Will all your friends suddenly turn gay and refuse to come to your Sunday Ticket grill-outs? (Unlikely. Gay people enjoy watching football, too.)I can assure you that gay people getting married will have zero effect on your life. They won't come into your house and steal your children. They won't magically turn you into a lustful cockmonster. They won't even overthrow the government in an orgy of hedonistic debauchery because all of a sudden they have the same legal rights as the other 90 percent of our population, rights like Social Security benefits, childcare tax credits, family and medical leave to take care of loved ones, and COBRA health care for spouses and children. You know what having these rights will make gay Americans? Full-fledged citizens, just like everyone else, with the freedom to pursue happiness and all that that entails. Do the civil-rights struggles of the past 200 years mean absolutely nothing to you? In closing, I would like to say that I hope this letter in some small way causes you to reflect upon the magnitude of the colossal foot-in-mouth **** you so brazenly unleashed on a man whose only crime was speaking out for something he believed in. Best of luck in the next election; I'm fairly certain you might need it. Sincerely, Chris Kluwe P.S. I've also been vocal as hell about the issue of gay marriage, so you can take your "I know of no other NFL player who has done what Mr. Ayanbadejo is doing" and shove it in your closed-minded, totally-lacking-in-empathy pie hole.
