better to die of AIDS than a gunshot wound, eh? Well, fewer guns and more condoms, then.

Whyis it that Inever see gun rights activists denouncing irresponsible gun owners like this who just leave their weapons lying around, where anyone can get hold of them? The parents deny that they told their son to take the gun to school, but the gun was just left at their house by a relative. To the extent that more gun regulations are going to be put into effect, the blame goes toirresponsible pinheads like this. Where are your car keys? You know, right there on the table for the first kid to come along, go joy riding and kill a bunch of people on a freeway. I don't feel I need to put my gun anywhere I cannot access in a split second. No trigger lock, no gun safe, just loaded guns laying around like your car keys. Do you lock up the drano, and lawn mower gas can, matches & BQ lighter, knifes,..................I mean don't think everyone thinks like you about the same items. And with all the kids passing through here for events, not one has grabbed a gun or the car keys or the drano can.

Yes, I do lock up cleaning products, matches etc.I watch my 2 year old Grandson a few days a week.Anything dangerous is either locked up or kept out of his reach. And I sure as hell would not leave a gun lying around when he's here.

I know that no one asked for my opinion, but that never stopped me before. I think considering that 20 babies were slaughtered just a few days ago, these threads are in poor taste. You don't help your cause by posting stuff like that. Note: Now before you say it, let me save some of you the time and trouble. I know....we Libs love nothing better than slaughtering babies.

In fairness, they're not trying to help their cause: they're trying to troll other people on the board. Edited by jayjay, 19 December 2012 - 05:09 PM.

But it does make me say, When a kid is about 5-6 it is time to start teaching gun safety with both hand guns and rifles. Boy Scouts should be doing this.

Boy scouts don't go near guns from my experience. No guns or gays for them. But a little childmolestationis fine. Attorneys release confidential Boy Scouts files on alleged child sex abusers.

Newtown Charity Scams Crop Up In Wake Of Sandy Hook Elementary School ShootingNEWTOWN, Conn. -- The family of Noah Pozner was mourning the 6-year-old, killed in the Newtown school massacre, when outrage compounded their sorrow.Someone they didn't know was soliciting donations in Noah's memory, claiming that they'd send any cards, packages and money collected to his parents and siblings. An official-looking website had been set up, with Noah's name as the address, even including petitions on gun control.Noah's uncle, Alexis Haller, called on law enforcement authorities to seek out "these despicable people.""These scammers," he said, "are stealing from the families of victims of this horrible tragedy."It's a problem as familiar as it is disturbing. Tragedy strikes – be it a natural disaster, a gunman's rampage or a terrorist attack – and scam artists move in.It happened after 9/11. It happened after Columbine. It happened after Hurricane Katrina. And after this summer's movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colo.No words to describe these evil bastards.

The 1994 Assault Weapons Ban Would Have Never Passed If It Wasn't For Ronald ReaganTwo members said Reagan changed their votes. The bill passed by two votes. In 1994, former President Ronald Reagan's health was still good enough for him to, occasionally, participate in politics, and his agenda that year was clear: Helping President Bill Clinton pass the Assault Weapons Ban.Reagan had been an ardent supporter of stricter gun laws after his presidency for intensely personal reasons, as he wrote in a 1991 op-ed in the New York Times entitled "Why I'm for the Brady Bill.""'Anniversary' is a word we usually associate with happy events that we like to remember: birthdays, weddings, the first job. March 30, however, marks an anniversary I would just as soon forget, but cannot," he wrote. "It was on that day 10 years ago that a deranged young man standing among reporters and photographers shot a policeman, a Secret Service agent, my press secretary and me on a Washington sidewalk."As the assault weapon ban vote neared, Reagan who as president had signed 1986 legislation loosening restrictions on guns wrote a letter with former Presidents Ford and Carter to the House of Representatives urging them to vote in favor of the ban."We are writing to urge your support for a ban on the domestic manufacture of military-style assault weapons. This is a matter of vital importance to the public safety," the letter said."While we recognize that assault weapon legislation will not stop all assault weapon crime, statistics prove that we can dry up the supply of these guns, making them less accessible to criminals. We urge you to listen to the American public and to the law enforcement community and support a ban on the further manufacture of these weapons," the letter said concluding. The vote on the assault weapon ban was contentious and barely passed the House of Representatives. At least two members of the House of Representatives credited Reagan with influencing their votes. The bill passed 216-214, a margin of two votes.Congressman Scott Klug, a Republican from Wisconsin was an opponent of the assault weapon ban and the day before the vote stated his opposition to the ban. Klug only changed his voted after "a last minute plea from President Reagan" in the form of a handwritten note.''Dear Scott: As a longtime gun owner and supporter of the right to bear arms, I, too, have carefully thought about this issue. I am convinced that the limitations imposed in this bill are absolutely necessary," Reagan wrote Klug. "I know there is heavy pressure on you to go the other way, but I strongly urge you to join me in supporting this bill. It must be passed. Sincerely, Ronald Reagan.''''I can think of no one who has been a stronger supporter of law and order and a stronger supporter of the Second Amendment,'' Klug said in a statement regarding Reagan's note announcing his support for the ban.Another former Congressman, New Hampshire Democrat Dick Swett, also credited the former President with influencing his vote. Swett was unsure of how to vote on the ban, but made up his made after direct lobbying from Reagan.Swett's vote dogged him throughout his next election. He received threats on his life and had to wear a bullet proof vest. The New Hampshire Union Leader hammered him in editorials for his flip-flop.At a press conference after the vote announcing his intent to seek reelection, gun advocates chanted "Liar, liar, liar." Swett lost his House seat in the 1994 election.Conservatives seem to have a selective memory when it comes to their hero Ronald Reagan. As governor of California, Ronald Reagan signed the Mulford Act, which prohibited the carrying of firearms on your person, in your vehicle, and in any public place or on the street, and he also signed off on a 15-day waiting period for firearm purchases.

Conservatives seem to have a selective memory when it comes to their hero Ronald Reagan. As governor of California, Ronald Reagan signed the Mulford Act, which prohibited the carrying of firearms on your person, in your vehicle, and in any public place or on the street, and he also signed off on a 15-day waiting period for firearm purchases. “Reagan last week declared his support for a bill requiring a seven-day waiting period for handgun purchases. He did so at a George Washington University ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the shooting that almost killed him and permanently disabled his press secretary, James S. Brady. “It is called the Brady Bill, and Reagan said Congress should enact it without delay. ‘It's just plain common sense that there be a waiting period to allow local law enforcement officials to conduct background checks on those who wish to buy a handgun,’ the former president said.’”
