Bob Grant, Conservative Radio Host, Dies At 84



Bob Grant, the longtime conservative radio host whose combative style became the template for broadcasters such as Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh, died Dec. 31 in Hillsborough, N.J. He was 84.

The cause was not reported. His death was confirmed by New York radio station WABC, which once fired him over his acid-tongued remarks about the plane crash death of one of President Bill Clinton’s cabinet members, the first black commerce secretary.

Robert Ciro Gigante, known as Bob Grant, (March 14, 1929 – December 31, 2013) was an American radio host. A veteran of broadcasting in New York City, Grant is considered a pioneer of the conservative talk radio format and was one of the early adopters of the "combat talk" format.
Grant's career spanned from the 1950s until shortly before his death at age 84 on December 31, 2013.
Grant was widely termed a political conservative, and personally considered himself to be a conservative with some libertarian leanings. Grant was a controversial figure, with critics accusing him of racism and homophobia.

I have been listening to talk radio since I was a child, even sleeping with my little 'transistor radio' under my pillow.
I was a regular listener of the Bob Grant show, and met him in person once.
He worked at WMCA, WOR and WABC in NYC.

Howard Stern said that Grant was an early influence on him, and Glenn Beck has adopted Grant's catchphrase of, "Get off my phone!"

She was a stray, and when I took her in 17 years ago, the Vet said she was probably about two years old, so she had a good long run.

I've watched him do this for YEARS. Clem's goal seems to be to discredit ANY articulate opposition to his plutocratic, fascist ideology. He has done it to many such people until they leave the forum. As such, he is a forum quality killer.

I suspect he lives in some relative's basement and collects $50 a week from some Koch funded political organization for the purpose of disrupting any decent conversation that might germinate between two people that haven't been entirely brain-washed into believing we should all vote to maximize tax policy benefit for billionaires.
