I guess when you have over 80 billion dollars you can buy all the good publicity you want. Wow, what a massively important issue! And still not one single word about the roaring Obama Economy and its glorious 11.5% real unemployment rate. What "good publicity" has been bought at the Weekly Standard? I haven't seen them write much about the Koch's.

Democrats Win One In Indiana After Republicans CaveStatehouse Democrats from Indiana are calling an end to their stand-off in Illinois after a deal was struck with Republicans in Indianapolis. The deal stipulates that the GOP will shelve efforts to pass "right-to-work" laws and efforts to make Gov. Mitch Daniels' executive order banning collective bargaining for state workers permanent. Also, Democrats were able to scale back a bill that would institute a statewide private school voucher program, and another that would allow companies to take over failing public schools. http://progressillin...big-concessions

Bill Against Abortion Rights Clears Ohio House Panel By 1 VoteCOLUMBUS--A bill against abortion rights that even some opponents of abortion say goes too far in today's legal environment cleared a legislative hurdle by a scant one vote Wednesday on its way to a possible vote of the full House. The so-called Heartbeat Bill, which would ban most abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected, passed the House Health and Aging Committee by a vote of 12-11.It would be the most restrictive abortion law in the nation, closing the window for a legal abortion to roughly six weeks after conception.Supporters expect the law to be challenged in court and hope it will give the U.S. Supreme Court the tool to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision."This is our moment to do what we've been working for, praying for, hoping for for 38 years," Janet Folger-Porter, president of Faith2Faith and a former legislative director for Ohio Right to Life, told the committee."... I encourage you to vote for House Bill 125, the Heartbeat Bill, to ensure that once a heartbeat is detected, the baby will be protected. It's our best chance to save the most lives."However, the board of Ohio Right to Life fears the bill would invite the high court to strike down Ohio's law, reaffirm Roe, and set back opponents of abortion rights at a time when the organization is pushing other, less-restrictive bills it believes will pass constitutional muster."I'm not normally the kind of person to back down from a fight, but sometimes you have to," said Rep. Lorraine Fende (D., Willowick), a Democrat who voted against the bill in committee. "I'm just concerned that if this loses, it will strengthen Roe vs. Wade."The Heartbeat Bill makes an exception for cases in which the life of the mother is endangered, but a doctor who performs any other abortion once the heartbeat of a fetus is detected using standard medical practice would be guilty of a fifth-degree felony. That would carry a sentence of up to a year in prison and a $2,500 fine. Before voting, the committee removed a provision of the original bill that also would have provided for an exception when the health -- and not just the life -- of the mother is endangered. The committee voted down Democratic amendments to add an exception for women who are victims of rape or incest. The committee also defeated an amendment offered by Rep. Todd McKenney (R., Akron) to delay the effective date of the law to the end of 2012 in hopes that any court challenge it might attract would not interfere with another abortion law backed by Right to Life that passed a Senate committee Wednesday. That bill would prohibit abortions after 20 weeks of gestation. Currently, an abortion in Ohio is legal through the entire nine months of pregnancy. Two Republicans joined all Democrats in opposition to the bill, which was sponsored by the committee's chairman, Rep. Lynn Wachtmann (R., Napoleon). All members of the committee from northwest Ohio -- Reps. Wachtmann, Barbara Sears (R., Monclova Township), Randy Gardner (R., Bowling Green), and Bruce Goodwin (R., Defiance) -- supported the bill.http://toledoblade.c...-by-1-vote.htmlRepublicans are wasting time passing laws like this in hopes that they will be challenged. Is this what they campaigned on? Arizona Governor Signs Abortion Law Banning Abortions Based On Race Or Gender(Reuters) - Arizona Governor Jan Brewer on Tuesday signed into law a controversial bill that makes the state the first in the nation to outlaw abortions performed on the basis of the race or gender of the fetus. The move comes as anti-abortion groups across the nation try to seize on gains made by political conservatives during the November elections, seeking enactment of new state laws to further restrict abortions.Under the new Arizona statute, doctors and other medical professionals would face felony charges if they could be shown to have performed abortions for the purposes of helping parents select their offspring on the basis of gender or race. The women having such abortions would not be penalized.State legislators have said no such law exists anywhere else in the nation.Backers of the measure said the ban is needed to put an end to sex- and race-related discrimination that exists in Arizona and throughout the nation. They insist the issue is about bias rather than any broader stance on abortion."Governor Brewer believes society has a responsibility to protect its most vulnerable -- the unborn -- and this legislation is consistent with her strong pro-life track record," a spokesman said. But opponents have maintained that while such abortions may be happening in other countries like China, no clear evidence can found of it occurring in Arizona.Planned Parenthood Federation of America also said the measure may erode a woman's rights, fearing that doctors for the first time would feel compelled to ask their patients the reasons for seeking an abortion.A Planned Parenthood official in Arizona condemned the governor's action in a statement to Reuters."This law creates a highly unusual requirement that women state publicly their reason for choosing to terminate a pregnancy -- a private decision they already made with their physician, partner and family," said Bryan Howard, the group's chief executive. The law contains no explicit provision requiring doctors to ask their patients their reasons for seeking an abortion, nor for patients to disclose such reasons. But opponents of the measure feel passage of the new law might make them feel more inclined to do so.The law would take effect 90 days following the end of the current legislative session.http://www.reuters.c...E72T0TH20110330My favorite line in that article is, "Backers of the measure said the ban is needed to put an end to sex-and race-related discrimination that exists in Arizona."What a bunch of hogsnot. They have no interest in putting an end to any kind of discrimination. If states keep enacting all these new restrictive abortion laws, were going to need a whole new Police Force to enforce them.Less intrusive, small government Conservatives my ***. Top Fox News Executive Admits Lying On-Air About ObamaIn newly uncovered audio, a Fox News executive boasts that he lied repeatedly during the closing days of the 2008 presidential campaign when he speculated on-air "about whether Barack Obama really advocated socialism." Speaking in 2009 onboard a pricey Mediterranean cruise sponsored by a right-wing college, Fox Washington managing editor Bill Sammon described his attempts the previous year to link Obama to "socialism" as "mischievous speculation." Sammon, who is also a Fox News vice president, acknowledged that "privately" he had believed that the socialism allegation was "rather far-fetched.""Last year, candidate Barack Obama stood on a sidewalk in Toledo, Ohio, and first let it slip to Joe the Plumber that he wanted to quote, 'spread the wealth around,' " said Sammon. "At that time, I have to admit, that I went on TV on Fox News and publicly engaged in what I guess was some rather mischievous speculation about whether Barack Obama really advocated socialism, a premise that privately I found rather far-fetched." Indeed, in the weeks leading up to the 2008 election, Sammon used his Fox position to engage in a campaign to tie Obama to "Marxists" and "socialism." A Media Matters review found that Sammon - then the network's Washington deputy managing editor - repeatedly linked Obama's "spread the wealth around" remark to socialism during his October 2008 Fox appearances.Sammon's "mischief" wasn't limited to his on-air appearances. As Media Matters reported, Sammon also pushed Fox News colleagues to play the socialism card. On October 27, 2008, Sammon sent an email to staffers highlighting what he described as "Obama's references to socialism, liberalism, Marxism and Marxists" in his 1995 autobiography Dreams From My Father. Shortly after sending the email, Sammon appeared on two Fox News programs to discuss his research and also wrote a FoxNews.com piece about Obama's "affinity to Marxists."On October 14, 2008, Sammon said that Obama's "spread the wealth around" remark "is red meat when you're talking to conservatives and you start talking about 'spread the wealth around.' That is tantamount to socialism." Sammon repeated the "tantamount to socialism" line later that day, stating: "That's anathema to conservatives. That's the same as saying, 'Spread the misery around.' That's basically tantamount to socialism. And that bothers a lot of people. So I think if McCain is going to have any chance of moving ahead, he's got to turn this economic discussion from something that's been hurting him for the last couple weeks to something that can help him by focusing on what to do about the economy in the future." On October 21, 2008, Sammon appeared on Greta Van Susteren's show, where he referred to Bill Ayers "talking about being a Marxist." Sammon then said, "I have read Barack Obama's books pretty carefully, and he in his own words talks about being drawn to Marxists. ... Now all this stuff's coming out about whether he's a socialist. I don't know why anyone is surprised by it, because if you read his own words and his sort of, you know, orientation coming up as a liberal through college and as a young man, it's not a huge shock."On October 25, 2008, Sammon said: "As soon as I heard Barack Obama say, and it's gone on almost two weeks ago - two weeks ago -- 'spread the wealth around,' I mean, the red flag went up. I mean, that's just code - and I knew that conservatives would say, 'That is exactly code for income redistribution which is tantamount to socialism.' And I talked about this for several days right after it happened. And the McCain campaign has now picked up this socialism word on their own, and they're running with it." The Full Article With AudioYou Tube video of Sammon's on-air appearances:To Fox News, reporting something that you personally find rather far-fetched is now called mischievous speculation.Sammon's lying was not limited to his own on-air appearances. He sent out a mass e-mail to the Fox News staff reminding them to push the Socialism meme. And they did. You can see the video proof of that here.

Newt Gingrich speaking at Pastor Hagee's Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas:I have two grandchildren Maggie is 11, Robert is 9, he said. I am convinced that if we do not decisively win the struggle over the nature of America, by the time theyre my age they will be in in a secular atheist country, potentially one dominated by radical Islamists and with no understanding of what it once meant to be an American.A secular atheist country dominated by radical islamists?BTW, Hagee is the guy who said that Adolf Hitler was a hunter sent by God to expedite Gods will to have Jews reestablish a state of Israel, among many other controversial and hateful things. From Merriam-Webstersecular: not overtly or specifically religious, not bound by monastic vows or rulesatheist: one who believes that there is no deity Islamist: one who practices the faith or doctrine of Islam, one who belongs to the reform movement advocating the reordering of government and society in accordance with laws prescribed by Islam.

Republicans are wasting time passing laws like this in hopes that they will be challenged. Is this what they campaigned on?Oh my, a moderate infringement on abortion at the state level!A truly vital issue to the country and obviously the work of deranged lunatics.Say, speaking of deranged lunatics, how are Obama and Dems going to close the $1.6 trillion deficit without a massive tax hike on all Americans and a resulting deep recession? What are they going to do about Obama's glorious 11% real unemployment rate?Oh, that's right. None of that fits your Democrat Talking Point Lies.Newt Gingrich speaking at Pastor Hagee's Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas:A secular atheist country dominated by radical islamists?Describes much of Western Europe quite well; native seculars cowed by an aggressive, hostile, frequently violent Muslim population. So? Gingrich is correct, other than a slight mis-wording of his thoughts.

This is how Right Wing Flying Monkeys lie. From World-NUT-DailyThe website of the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, however, states clearly the Certification of Live Birth touted by the Obama campaign, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs and a host of other Obama defenders is not acceptable as a form of identification to qualify under this program. http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=100451They said it states clearly that Obama's 'Certificate of Live Birth' is not acceptable as a form of I.D. to qualify for the Hawaiian Home Lands program, and they even link to the Hawaiin Homelands website. When you click on the link and go to the The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands website, this is what you'll see.Primary DocumentsBirth Certificates (Certificates of Live Birth and Certifications of Live Birth) and Certificates of Hawaiian Birth are the primary documents used to determine native Hawaiian qualification. The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands accepts both Certificates of Live Birth (original birth certificate) and Certifications of Live Birth because they are official government records documenting an individual’s birth. The Certificate of Live Birth generally has more information which is useful for genealogical purposes as compared to the Certification of Live Birth which is a computer-generated printout that provides specific details of a person’s birth. Although original birth certificates (Certificates of Live Birth) are preferred for their greater detail, the State Department of Health (DOH) no longer issues Certificates of Live Birth. When a request is made for a copy of a birth certificate, the DOH issues a Certification of Live Birth.http://hawaii.gov/dh...pforms/applyhhl Edited by MistyBlue, 31 March 2011 - 03:30 PM.

Clem- what kind of economy would result in such massive deficits? Can't seem to remember what you call it...It was effectively deficit spending that caused the collapse of the Soviet Union, although it "appeared" different because instead of printing money, they simply didn't make enough consumer goods.Liberals at the time glowed over how strong the Soviet economy was and bleated in outrage when Reagan predicted its collapse.Stupid moonbats.Call it Command and Control, Socialism, Communism, there are many variants and they all fail totally or almost so.

Another lie, the president has put forth proposals for major cuts.Everytime a republican mentions the word "deficit" they look like such a fool b/c every single one of their heroes were for EXPLODING the deficitby pushing the Bush tax cuts for the rich to the tune of $3.9 trillion.$3.9 TRILLION.That's the name of that tune.$1.5 trillion: Total amount of wealth owned by billionaires in the U.S. $4.5 trillion: Total amount of wealth owned by billionaires in the entire world. The combined wealth of all U.S. millionaires and billionaires in 2009 is $10.7 trillion. That's not income, that's total assets. Your claim of $3.9 trillion in tax cuts is out right wrong. $3.9 trillion is 36.4% of the total value of all millionaires and billionaires in the U.S. If all the millionaires and billionaires combined earned $10.7 trillion in one year then the Bush tax cuts would have to be 36.4% change in tax rate of with the Bush tax cuts vs. without. But these millionaires and billionaires didn't earn $10.7 trillion in one year, That's their total assets combined, not annual income. In reality the doing away with the Bush tax cuts on the rich had a much smaller affect on collected taxes. Without the Bush tax cut, the federal income tax rate on millionaires is 36%. Only a 3% change. With the Bush tax cuts it's 33% On billionaires without the Bush tax cuts it's 39.6%. With the Bush tax cuts it's 35%. Only a 4.6% change. Regardless of wealth, investment taxes would have increased from 15% to 20% if the cuts expired.Lets assume most of the wealth a millionaire/billionaire earns comes from investments, since the change in investment taxes are the largest. Further, lets assume the $10.7 trillion total combined wealth of U.S. millionaires and billionaires was income for one year instead of it being a combined wealth of total assets. We will assume this so that we can tax their entire wealth not just what they earned in 1 year.5% increase in taxes on $10.7 trillion is only $535 billion. Over 5 times less then the $3.9 trillion claim you made. In reality, it's no where near $535 billion, because $10.7 trillion wasn't millionaire and billionaire income for a tax year. It is their combined asset wealth.
