Susan Collins claimed to be pro-choice. SO did Olympia Snow. And I think that The GOP made more out of promising to overturn Roe (which they never tried to do) than the Democrats did. We didn't need Roe to ignite the passion. We had Roe. If anything, pro-choice democrats were mildly complacent because they believed that Roe was settled law

AND the Kennedy seat, and then they broke their own rules and stole the RGB nomination from Biden and gave it to Trump and THAT ended Roe. Now they get to deal with Hobbs, and I hope the Democrats cram Hobbs back up their asses.

Consider Texas, as it is probably the most **** by this. In the state of Texas, any mom-to-be who has a daily planner and a credit card can get an abortion. But there are millions of perfectly fecund Solandras and QuanayShendras who lack either. The very women least competent to manage the expense and logistics of abortion tourism are also the least likely to use birf control responsibly and the least qualified to raise good citizens.
Before roe, the US had a HORRID problem with skreet crime - and it was charting EVER upward. The films that made money in those days were revenge franchises like dirty hairy, death wish, escape from, etc.
Notwithstanding the showboating of rudy giulianni, the clinton-era crime drop was NOT a result of super duper policing skradegies. It was a result of a generation of wanted babies coming into its wilding years and not running wild.
In about 14 years, Texas - and many other repuke states - are going to reap the whirlwind. The people smirking today will be wincing tomorrow when they are hit on the backs of the heads for their pocket change.

A few polls. Abortion has been losing favor for decades. Hobbs garnered blowback based on alarmist rhetoric. Rape victims aren't carrying rape babies to term. We are not finding back alley abortion victims dead in gutters. I am not as confident as you are that SCOTUS justices are true to the party that appointed them. I can provide copious contrary evidence. I believe they are true to their real masters, and these are not the parties that were instructed - by those same masters - to appoint them. If I am right, there is a reason beyond petty party politics that the SCOTUS reversed roe.
I strongly suspect that the clot shot sterilized so many women that the only way to keep birf rates high enough to disguise it is to relegate abortion on demand to history, as we have done with HIPAA.
