A really good TV Series about what life is like for Israeli "SWAT" type police is called "FAUDA"...and I think it's showing right now on [[[JEWFLIX]]].
I would watch it again.

You shouldn't be arrested in certain shootings.  For example, if you shoot and kill a home invader - no reason for you to be arrested.  I do get it if you are carrying and shoot someone at, say a gas station.  Cops aren't going to be able to sort that set of facts out necessarily.

When I was a kid, I had a good friend that lived with his (divorced) mom in a very rural area. 
He said one night their dog started acting up, and his mom took him to her bedroom and where they could hide/defend themselves. 
Someone was outside and came to her window, looked in and saw them.   He broke the window and she shot him with a 30-06.

Sheriffs came.  Everyone knew her and they took the body away and did all their paperwork.
As the last Sheriff was leaving, he told her that she did good, but maybe next time wait until he actually starts to come into the house. 
There was never any question she was within her rights to defend herself and her son.

I think there once was a time when common sense prevailed and so  if you shot and killed  ANYONE who broke into your home...it wasn't automatically assumed that you should be arrested and forced to defend your actions.

I know what you mean though. It becomes an assumption that everyone is guilty of something.

Home invasions are ramped up burglaries. Arresting everyone is ramped up police response.
The loser in all this: The guy that didn't do anything wrong.

The Israelis have really created some upper echelon firearms  ---especially their smaller & lightweight close quarters / urban Gun designs...

        

I like that mini-galil thing. A 5.56 pistol with a folding stock, but in an AK type format.

Good on the Sheriff for recognizing who the criminal was and who the victims were, even though the BG ended up dead.  I always find it funny when gun-grabbers label a 5.56 rifle "high powered", when a standard 30-06 with hollow points will beat out any military-style rifle with its one-shot-you're-dead punch.

I was sighting in my 30-06 at an indoor range for hunting season.  I hit the switch to bring my target back to my shooting table, as I was done for the day.....so I thought.  Before I packed up my rifle, I nonchalantly pointed the muzzle at the big piece of cardboard hanging from the target clip and pulled the trigger just to make sure there was no tension on the firing pin spring. BAM! I had a negligent discharge - forgot I still had a round chambered.  Fortunately, I always keep the muzzle pointed down-range when ever I even touch the trigger.  The Muzzle blast from the 30-06 blew a 12" hole in the cardboard, being that close.  That drove home to me just how powerful a 30-06 actually is.
