Gaza would be a blank slate upon which the Israelis would create their own settlements and infrastructure, without even one Palestinian. Skans thinks Arabs understand and respect that kind of brutality.
Netanyahu: Says he's going to go into Gaza, occupy it and completely clean house of all terrorists. If he's not lying, then what's the real difference between what Netanyahu says and what Skans proposes?
Netanyahu Lite: Troops go into Gaza, occupy some key parts of it, round up all of the militants and terrorists and incarcerate them in some desert hell-hole until it comes time to exchange prisoners in some other war. Then, Israel allows the Palestinians who are terrorists, but claim not to be terrorists, back in to rebuild and hate on Israel some more in 10 years.
Maineman: Israel goes into Gaza and kills as many combatants and civilians as Hamas killed Israelis. Call it a day and leave. Arabs perceive that as a total loss for Israel, Hamas pumps more rockets into the hidden tunnels and attacks Israel again 8 months from now.
I guess it all depends on your belief that every single man woman, child, infant, elderly, and infirmed resident of Gaza is a terrorist and that killing them ALL and burning their remains would be even remotely acceptable to the world community. I get that you like to use hyperbole, but, good God man, show some restraint!

Why be pro anyone over there? One does not have to favor one over the other. Both sides have done their share of disgusting things over the years...as has America. There is nothing wrong with condemning both sides rather than taking one side or the other.

But to answer your question: Why be pro anyone in the middle east?
I spent two years in the middle east. I worked in Lebanon the entire time but split my time residing in Northern Israel and in Beirut. I have witnessed the Arab-Israeli conflict up close and personal like no one else on this board has, and that experience gave me the opportunity to develop an informed opinion about both sides of that conflict. I side with Israel. And while I do think that they have lost a bit of the moral high ground by their brutish treatment of Arabs in the occupied territories (Golan, Gaza, West Bank), that is far outweighed by the indiscriminate horrific bloodthirsty nature of the Hamas M.O.
