It sounds like Sidis may have been on the autism spectrum.

I might not call it autism.  In fact, I don't think anyone has ever defined exactly what autism is - other than symptomatically. 

No, I think people with exceptional IQ's sacrifice in other areas, thus constantly teetering on the edge of insanity.  Sidis was an example of this. His intellect was beyond genius, but his ability to have a fulfilling life seemed impossible, especially after that awkward age when parents are no longer enamored with their "brilliant" little Billy sideshow.

I worked at Lockwood, Kessler and Bartlett in Pasadena in 1970 with the Cal Tech alumni which was a Geophysical Engineering firm locating oil domes in Liberia, Africa. At the time Cal tech was the leader in Seismolgy.

Now, that's interesting.  There are a handful of schools that are still balls-to-the-wall serious about its program and the caliber of ripened students it turns loose. Cal Tech is one of those.

So, here's what Caltech has done to increase its "diversity", which it so proudly flaunts in one of its web pages.  It adds Majors like: English, History, History and Philosophy of Science (LOL!!!  , Political Science, and get this one Visual Culture.  This is where they stuff all of the "Diverse Idiots", while they continue to teach some serious disciplines in Mathematics, Bio-engineering, Chemical Engineering, and yes, even Geology (Rocks for Jocks).
