Baikal Gun Co. is a subsidiary of Kalashnikov Group.  Beautiful, simple gun.  That safety is damned rudimentary

Safety works as it should. Nothing too fancy.  It is a nicely made O/U.  But, even a tad more sophisticated than you might think.  You can set it to eject or extract. Fit of wood to steel is good. Balance is good. Metal finishing is a bit basic, but not bad.  It can use all of my Beretta chokes. I actually like this O/U very much.

Actually, it wasn't always owned by Kalashnikov.  It was originally manufactured by Izhmekh. Leonard Vasev designed the logo for this brand name which would become the name of hunting firearms manufactured by IZHMEKH.   It was somehow associated with Lenard Vasev, a Ukranian master engraver and gunsmith who worked for IZH.   I wish I could find an example of Lenard's shotgun engraving.

I have 20 gauge o/u Stoeger and a 12 gauge o/u CZ.  I think both are Turkish made.  Neither have eject/extract option.

True, Izhmekh is a city in the Urals 1,000 miles wast of Lake Baikal....so not sure about that connection.

The Stoeger Condor Outback O/U I have was made in Brazil.

In the United States, the Condor is marketed and distributed by Stoeger Industries in Accokeek, Maryland. It is manufactured by E.R. Amantino in Veranópolis, Brazil. The Condor is relatively inexpensive compared to other double barreled shotguns. It is most often used for hunting birds and for clay target games such as trap and skeet.
