Ex US ambassador, Daniel Kurtzer, said "don't expect Israel's ground invasion to be a full invasion". The Israeli military is now expressing grave concerns that Israel would face during the ground assault are ambushes and fighters emerging from tunnels in Gaza.
"It could also happen in stages with additional incursions by small groups of Israeli soldiers rather than a full invasion," Daniel Kurtzer, said, indicating there are operational reasons for Israel not to go in right away.
What does this sound like to you? Sounds like to me ISRAEL IS PUSSING OUT!!!

From what I have read, Israel has pretty much destroyed most of Hamas' military infrastructure at this point... at least the part that's above ground.
The last time these two traded blows it was nearly a decade before Hamas posed a serious threat again.
I can certainly understand Israel's wanting to totally eliminate Hamas, but they also understand that it's like trying to kill cockroaches. You're never gonna get them all and they will always come back.

I am almost thinking that Hamas realizes the sheer brutality of their initial attack and would like nothing more than to return the hostages as safely as possible to try and give themselves some semblance of civility to the world. I kinda doubt it, but maybe. I have read too that there are radical elements in Gaza that Hamas, while holding some influence over, does not outright control... so there is that too.
Maybe we'll see a cease fire soon. I'd prefer that over a mushroom cloud for sure.
