Before Donald Trump and MAGA gained a foothold within the GOP there was the Tea Party. These things among others pushed the party towards a kind of extremism that thrills the base and appeals to activists, but it doesn't work when governing. Think about it. The Freedom Caucas Republicans are not going to get the debt ceiling abolished. If Biden wins reelection impeachment efforts won't go anywhere.
The House Republicans are angry and unreasonable. They are more about show and performances that keep their base engaged rather than governing on behalf of the American people. The recent failure of Representative Jim Jordan to become speaker is a temporary setback. The Republicans will choose a speaker eventually, but nothing will change.
