That's the thing. Passenger safety because lawsuits cost way more money than the vehicle replacement, repairs.GHETTOBLASTER » 30 Oct 2023, 1:47 pm » wrote: ↑ One of your safest ever "Crumple Zone" cars met the massive back bumper of my 4000 pound Ford F-150 head on at about 40 MPH.
The impact tore my truck's back bumper off the frame but the truck's frame was undamaged.
The compact sedan that the Crack Heads were in was "crumpled" beyond repair....a total loss but the passengers were saved by air bags.
I was able to pound my trucks bumper and the bumper brackets back into shape and reuse them. The holes for the bumper bolts were torn and required a little bit of welding.
I had to buy 6 new nuts and bolts and a can of spray paint.....![]()

There is no real way to keep track of the safety records of all the heavily built cars that drive away TOTALLY VICTORIOUS.Str8tEdge » 30 Oct 2023, 2:10 pm » wrote: ↑ That's the thing. Passenger safety because lawsuits cost way more money than the vehicle replacement, repairs.

You can’t really compare a passenger car to an F-250 either.GHETTOBLASTER » 30 Oct 2023, 2:20 pm » wrote: ↑ There is no real way to keep track of the safety records of all the heavily built cars that drive away TOTALLY VICTORIOUS.
Your "Crumple Zone Car" of course became a statistic the moment it met with my 4000 pound truck...but no such records are kept for THE HEAVY IRON that has been on the WINNING SIDE of millions of these encounters.

Well it's "crumple zone" technology versus old school heavy iron "technology" where I live BC half the cars on the road are trucksStr8tEdge » 30 Oct 2023, 3:04 pm » wrote: ↑ You can’t really compare a passenger car to an F-250 either.
Look at you agree to disagree so your choices to never be honest about living as displaced makes your body on a higher intellectual plane than actually evolving here now.
Crumple zones are much safer for passenger cars.GHETTOBLASTER » 30 Oct 2023, 6:03 pm » wrote: ↑ Well it's "crumple zone" technology versus old school heavy iron "technology" where I live BC half the cars on the road are trucks

The engineers they pay hundreds of millions to, disagree.GHETTOBLASTER » 02 Nov 2023, 5:54 pm » wrote: ↑ Explain how having a hefty enough pair of bumpers to avoid body damage @ 5 mph [or less] has any negative effect on how well a "crumple zone" chassis is able to absorb and deflect higher collision forces.
Personally I think both can work in tandem.
my cavelier had plastic bumpers and when it got slammed by a car doing a least 10 my car was fine and not a dent on the bumper.GHETTOBLASTER » 02 Nov 2023, 5:54 pm » wrote: ↑ Explain how having a hefty enough pair of bumpers to avoid body damage @ 5 mph [or less] has any negative effect on how well a "crumple zone" chassis is able to absorb and deflect higher collision forces.

That cars are safer than they ever have been? I didn't know it was being disputed.
This thread is not about that.Str8tEdge » 04 Nov 2023, 5:23 pm » wrote: ↑ That cars are safer than they ever have been? I didn't know it was being disputed.
If you knew anything about physics [or even automotive engineering as a hobby] you'd know that a properly defended micro car can be engineered to "give ground" from a low speed impact with much less steel involved than with a car that has a bigger footprint.
Civil engineers or civic minded soul community organizers pay people to obey possibilities rather than understand what isn't possible any generation left evolving forward here now?
