I'd like to tell you something that might feel counter-intuitive to an american consumer. Food prices in bulk are negotiable. Your meat department manager will quote a higher price than he is willing to sell for. Let him know you have a friend who gets liver at 75 cents a pound. He'll find a way to charge you a buck a pound at the most. Ideally, you'll get my price: 30 bucks for 40 pounds.
I split my time between two states. I pay .75 for liver in one and .99 for liver in another. The .99 state started at a quote of 1.80, then 1.29, and when I stood firm it went to .99. At 1.80 I told him, bro - that's RETAIL. I'm buying in bulk. At 1.29 I told him that is an excellent price at retail, but it's still not wholesale. At .99 I put in an order for a 40 pound box. When it arrived, it was only 20 pounds, and he honored the price.

My daughter works in a Dementia unit at a nursing home. She was making $12 per hour under Trump, and makes $22 per hour under Biden. She was barely making it paycheck to paycheck. She has been working a lot of overtime because of the labor shortage, and paid off her new SUV in 2 years. She just bought her land, and will start building a house in the spring.
My grandson wasn't doing very well during Trump. He couldn't make it, and I was constantly having to help him out. He has a job for $28 per hour. He is saving up for a down payment on a condo.
Same deal with your Grandson..under Trump there was a vast conspiracy to freeze the wages of ALL GRANDSONS ...no matter what their qualifications were...

A lot of these younger folks seem to live on Heat / Microwave & Serve Meals..... They try and justify this as it is because they are people on the go --- and do not have the time to actually prepare a decent meal... They are too important to be bothered with such menial tasks... It makes you wonder what they feed their children... During the past couple years I've discovered the wonders of using mainly a 12 inch square, 1500 watt, $30 skillet with a glass lid.
It's amazing how quickly and evenly it cooks on just the low setting.
Notice how most people who claim they don't have the time to do things for themselves spend 1/2 their free time getting stoned and playing with their Electronic Baby Sitters...?
