Do NATO members themselves actually believe Russia is in the wrong?
YES BRO!
Diplomacy pre war indicates Putin has a small penis. That Russia refuses to use pronouns on demand by the delusional. If that isn't enough to die for the second most corrupt democracy in Europe, I don't know what is.DeezerShoove » 03 Nov 2023, 10:17 pm » wrote: ↑ Do NATO members themselves actually believe Russia is in the wrong?
Kind of seems their hearts aren't in this "war" and motivation is low.
Weird.
I thought the story not so long ago was that NATO was the biggest and most powerful military alliance in the world. That was, in part, the reason why Putin did not want them lurking any closer to Russia in the first place.
Now which is it...
Big and powerful, to-be-feared-at-all-costs, bullies?
Or failed, weak, doddering alliance of clowns?
Has this situation revealed some truth?
Literally anyone who has ever played a military board game could see that one coming. Seriously - there was an enormous pocket that was surrounded on three sides containing divisions of ukrainian defenders. When I saw it on a map, I wondered whether they would retreat or be swallowed - the two obvious options.
Remember that big pocket a bit south of the center of the front?
It is none of the above.DeezerShoove » 03 Nov 2023, 10:17 pm » wrote: ↑ Do NATO members themselves actually believe Russia is in the wrong?

If NATO-trained forces stayed in that pocket, it means trannies and queers are the piss poor trainers we all suspected them to be.

NATO The United States, manipulating NATO, started this proxy war with russia to exhaust their reserves, knowing this move in israel was on the books and wanting a weakened Russia when they expand the conflict on some pretext to include syria.
Mind you, this is my suspicion - I cannot prove it. But it illustrates that your either/or is likely a false dichotomy.
As to the final question, I believe the truth it has revealed to our NATO partners is that we are very much to be distrusted. A domino is going to fall somewhere - maybe sarajevo, for symmetry, - and the U.S. is going to find itself isolated, with its overseas ports indefensible against the enraged populations of the host countries. The sixth fleet isn't that mighty when it's out of provisions.

Yeah - it's gone. Who could have seen THAT coming.![]()
I was talking to a gal near my age a few months back and I was explaining her unexamined life to her. She was rueful that her friendships were crumbling around her as she and they lacked the energy they used to have for get-togethers. I smiled and shook my head. I told her that our 20s and 30s are the gathering years, when we develop the critical friendships that will define our lives, reflect our character, and bespeak our values.DeezerShoove » 04 Nov 2023, 8:44 am » wrote: ↑ Thanks for the insight. I'm still wondering how much this old saying comes into play:
"When you enemies are destroying themselves, don't interrupt."
Seems China is doing that. A weakened Russia wouldn't hurt their feelings at all.
As for distrust, I don't actually believe very many countries fully trust each other, allies or not.
Varying degrees depending on the stakes. That's not new... We may be in a deeper trough than usual.
A side note in that same vein is the Soviet break up.
Russia was always the in-control motherland surrounding herself with sacrificial vassals. That was USSR.
This current dust up is simply Russia dismissing Ukraine as a potential wasteland really.
In the big picture they don't give two **** about "The Russian Speaking...blah blah blah"...
It is convenient theater IMO. They merely want a buffer. It could be a giant marsh for all it matters.
Politicians ANYWHERE don't care about casualties a whole lot... unless it can be helpful for their careers.
Then it's an act. Russian or American or Chinese.

I have a friend... Yes, I have one.
We agree that as we've matured we have come to set our expectations very low.
People are no damned good and once in a while we are pleasantly surprised.
We don't like disappointment so this helps keep those numbers low, I guess.
They got to see how the sausage is made.Sumela » 04 Nov 2023, 11:08 am » wrote: ↑ Yes, the BIG counter offensive where 70K Ukes died
trying to breach just the FIRST line of Russian defenses.
The worst I saw was from a colleague who sent me

I told her that our 20s and 30s are the gathering years, when we develop the critical friendships that will define our lives, reflect our character, and bespeak our values.
Our 40s and 50s are the years of maintaining those friendships in the face of being pulled this way and that - the years of putting in the effort because those friendships define us, and they merit that attention.
Our 60s and 70s are the years of reassessing the ongoing value of those friendships, and deciding which few continue to be worth the effort, because even though we have more time, we have less energy and vitality. She seemed upset by these news, so I didn't tell her that our 80s and 90s, should we reach those, are the years of watching the obits between naps so that we can remember fondly - or maybe say **** like, "I warned him..."
She was saddened by these news, and I suggested that she need be saddened - that life is richer when observed and savored rather than fretted over and resisted. There was nothing wrong with childhood or young adulthood or the middling years, and there is nothing bad about sunset. The colors are richer and prettier, even if you can no longer run toward them. Just never let any son of a bitch restrict your salt.
I have a trick that I use when a friendship or a job is coming to an end. I hump their leg. While I do it, I roll my eyes back in my head and plaster a retarded smile on my face.DeezerShoove » 04 Nov 2023, 1:51 pm » wrote: ↑ You are either saying some **** back to me that I have said as well,
or,
we think alike on some things.
I've never had enough patience to maintain friendships that require much work.
Yeah, there are people I've known for many years but somehow I get the feeling THEY are the ones putting in the work. Not me.
One of my good friends and I have a mutual dislike, distrust, disrespect for people.
We are trying to make baby steps and correct that once in a while. Like tolerate each other...
It ain't easy bein' mean.

I've made bosses forget they came in to fire me - stretched the free ride for a few more weeks. When they come in to fire me wearing a butchers apron, I know the jig is up.
Yup, I think we think alike. But I break pattern with what I said. Two of my favorite friendships are from my fifties - the maintenance years, not the gathering years.
I'm young at heart.
