Literally anyone who has ever played a military board game could see that one coming. Seriously - there was an enormous pocket that was surrounded on three sides containing divisions of ukrainian defenders. When I saw it on a map, I wondered whether they would retreat or be swallowed - the two obvious options.

Russia has Avdiivka in pincers. Just like Bakhmut several months ago.

The three most heavily fortified areas of E. Ukraine:

Mariupol....Russia took that city 15 mos ago and is busily rebuilding it.
Bakhmut...Russia took this city several mos ago.
Avdiivka...the most heavily fortified of them all. Could fall very soon.

Russia has more men, more ammo, better logistics.

Looking at that map, the quandry the nazis are in is pretty clear, even to a novice. But what the novice might NOT take into account is that soon, it will begin to snow. And then in April, it will stop. What the map we are looking at suggests about logistics is tripled by the russian force-multiplier of winter. 

If anyone wonders why winter is a force-multiplier for the russians, rather than the nazis, it is because the russians are not the ones encircled. The nazis are. Getting supplied is already a sticky wicket. Add snow, and you've got yourself a real cluster ****.

Dead solid perfect. 

BUT before the snow and just days/weeks away is the rainy and muddy season...the "rasputitsa".

Will be near impossible for any Uke traffic in or out of these pincers.  Its a death trap.
