I'm eventually gonna try a mango habanero margarita, but just for experimental purposes, I just went with a traditional marg first.
Shot of El Mayor blanco, 1/2 oz Cointreau, 1/2 oz habanero syrup, 1/2 fresh squeezed lime... shaken over ice for 20 seconds, and then strained into a rocks glass over fresh ice with tajin on the rim instead of salt.
It definitely has a heat kick to it! The 1/2 oz of habanero syrup work for me, but it think most would probably prefer a 1/4 oz.
Don't let the looks fool ya, this dude packs a punch!
I was just trying to keep the water cooler room alive!

I used to work with a guy whose cousin from North Carolina made jerky with the Reaper peppers.Kobia2 » 22 Nov 2023, 2:28 am » wrote: ↑        I grow Super Hots most years...... I've been growing Carolina Reaper varieties since the seeds were available from the guy who bred the Pepper Ed Currie of Pucker Butt Pepper Company.. Habaneros & Scotch Bonnets are fun to grow, very productive plants...Â
I grow the original Red Reapers and also the Chocolate Reapers... I sun dry them and pass most of them along to a brother up in NC who uses them to make Jerky..... I've seen this Brother eat 4 fresh ones ---- insane.... Another buddy down here makes Hot Sauces with them...Â

I grew a couple of bushes of Thai Chili Peppers this year. Tiny little F-ers, and I'd say a bit hotter than Habanero. It produced so much, that I would dehydrate them and then grind them up in a coffee grinder we no longer use. Got a couple of bottles of some smoking hot Thai Chili this year!!!RedheadedStranger » 22 Nov 2023, 7:25 pm » wrote: ↑ I used to work with a guy whose cousin from North Carolina made jerky with the Reaper peppers.
I wonder if it's the same guy?
That was the most insanely hot jerky I have ever eaten too. Almost hallucinaginic.
Thai Chili and Habanero peppers have some of the best flavor to me in regards to hot peppers, Thai Chili especially.Skans » 30 Nov 2023, 8:30 am » wrote: ↑ I grew a couple of bushes of Thai Chili Peppers this year. Tiny little F-ers, and I'd say a bit hotter than Habanero. It produced so much, that I would dehydrate them and then grind them up in a coffee grinder we no longer use. Got a couple of bottles of some smoking hot Thai Chili this year!!!

Never thought about using them to infuse syrup. I just dry them in the oven and then grind them up. Why the ground Thai peppers are still quite hot and flavorfull, they aren't quite the same as when they are fresh picked. Fresh picked they are wicked hot.RedheadedStranger » 30 Nov 2023, 2:20 pm » wrote: ↑  Thai Chili and Habanero peppers have some of the best flavor to me in regards to hot peppers, Thai Chili especially.
The Carolina Reapers have a great flavor as well, but they are just too **** hot... for me anyway.
Habanero is about as hot as I like to go, and sometimes they can be a bit much. When I made that syrup, it literally almost ran me outta the kitchen. Just a few drops in a Margarita is the perfect amount. The first one made I dropped a half oz in and it was a tad over the top.
I bet the Thai Chili peppers would be good in an infused syrup too!
Those Thai peppers are too small for me to halve. I will take jalapeno and poblano peppers and grill them with some melted cheddar-jack on them.Kobia2 » 30 Nov 2023, 2:32 pm » wrote: ↑      Those plants are a lot of fun to grow... I'd also Sun Dry them and put through a Grinder to make Hot Chili Powder.... A nice variation I'd do with them sometimes is I'd Halve & smoke them --- finish drying them in the Sun and it mellowed them enough where you could use them in all sorts of dishes and sauces... Smoked Jalapenos & Poblanos... were also really versatile & tasty...Â
