Have you have seen some of those "green" recycling paper? They even try to use them to replace plastic straws. They are useless. I think Arbys tried it once. You could literally taste the paper in your soda.

So there isn't any shortage. There isn't any big push to find another source of power from THAT direction.
That said, oil is heavy to haul and is a pollutant/fire hazard if spilled during haulage. So that is an incentive to use oil at point of production, creating oil-based products. The very best use a country can make of its excess oil is to manufacture it - not sell it on the open market as a raw resource for some OTHER country to transform into value-added products. Why ship jobs overseas?
Enough of that - let's address the elephant in the room. The earth is at an historic low regarding atmospheric C02. At 400 ppm, the earths vegetation is starved, stunted and struggling. When photosynthesis was evolved, the atmosphere was between 1600 and 2000 ppm C02. Many of the fruits and vegetables you enjoy are hot house grown under carbon enhanced conditions. If more carbon got into the atmosphere, plants would thrive, life would thrive. More carbon means more life. Carbon IS life. You are made of it.
All climate alarmists are pseudo-science believing cultist whack jobs. They are literally members of a death cult, And too stupid to know it.
There are some good reasons to stop using oil - just as soon as a replacement shows up. I've heard rumbles about AI energy, where they focus multiple lasers and create an artificial star in a bottle or some ****. If that pans out, we'll have ourselves a new energy source. Until then, thank God for oil.

Science is an academic subject. What does a lifetime arrive as? fertilized cell changing shape and form until dead where the process reverses itself until decomposed. Fossil fuels are decomposed corpses reverted back into periodic elements without chromosomes.

Life wouldn't be the numbers here following relative time logistics. Missing links don't exist in closed circuit evolving to the perpetual motion created by never same results expanding details never duplicate past arrivals into next generations being a completely difference ancestors left evolving forward now.
