Sam Altman fired as CEO of OpenAI - The Verge

Sam Altman has been fired as CEO of OpenAI, the company announced Friday. “Mr. Altman’s departure follows a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities,” the company said in its blog post. “The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.”Chief technology officer Mira Murati will be the interim CEO. I heard he met with top tech leaders like Bill Gates and Elon Musk in a confidential hearing about AI on Capital Hill. He also did a world tour to meet leaders about the technology (like Modi in India level meetings). The next "golden boy" of tech has fallen. I guess he couldn't handle the weight of his new responsibilities. I use Chapgpt regularly and it was invented largely by Open AI.

I use ChatGPT as much as I use Google now. The latest news is the board is saying that Altman was not being "candid" with them about the technology. Whatever the **** that means. My guess would be they want to monetize it as much as possible without regards to safety concerns. He also publicly asked for Microsoft to invest more money.

I think they do have some sort of arrangement with Microsoft in ownership of the technology.
