The numbers are truly staggering. 71% of ALL patent medicines approved this century were later recalled for safety reasons, or black boxed. Mind you, that is WITH proper supervision. Remove the hurdles, and what do you suppose our odds are?

I spent decades pondering the nature of evil. It always seemed to me that the evil man would seek his own benefit. Yet I saw a great deal of evidence that many a man whose actions appeared evil to me undertook those actions on behalf of his heirs, rather than himself. I perceived literal generational evil to be afoot, from one generation to the next and the next, with each taking care for the welfare and the even greater empowerment of the next.  DYNASTIC evil.

At some point I started looking at evil through a different lens.

For example, to deer in the forest, we are clearly quite evil. We sneak into their homes to ambush and kill them, and after making their children orphans, we devour their flesh and shamelessly hang their heads on our walls. Yet we consider our actions to be good. We feed our families by these "evil" behaviors - and that certainly seems good. And their antlers make good hat racks.

Then it occurred to me that what is evil for one species is good for another. Then it occurred to me that it was possible - that there was in fact some evidence - that the humans who behave in an evil fashion might not actually be human in the way that I am human. I saw passages of Scripture that suggested as much. For example, we are told that Jesus came to save humanity. Yet there are verses where He tells a group that He came NOT for them, but for HIS children. And then there are the assurances of royals that their right to govern us is due to their blood. They are outright informing us that their genetics and ours are different genetics - that they are above us by birth. That they are other than merely human. 

And then it occurred to me that the people I perceived as evil were neither people nor evil. I mean, for MY sake and by MY lights, they are evil, yes - but by THEIR lights and for THEIR sake, they are good. They are doing what is right for their kind. 

These are just random thoughts I have had about the nature of reality, based on observations. I'm not saying it's true - only that I have room in my cosmology for it to be true. And if it is true, our tormenters are not evil. Nor are they human. And we're in a heap of trouble.
