now every child, regardless of household income, gets a free pre-k thru 12 school lunch...
this week they announced the biennium budget forecast...for '24-'25, a 2.4bn surplus, for '26-'27? a 2.4bn deficit...the reason for the deficit, "school lunches are costing us more than anticipated..."

This passed in 1992 in Colorado with Republican house and Senate and a Dem governor.
The Taxpayer's Bill of Rights (TABOR) Amendment was approved by voters in 1992. This amendment to the Constitution of the State of Colorado generally limits the amount of revenue governments in the state can retain and spend. Absent voter approval, it requires excess revenue to be refunded to taxpayers.
Our refund for 2023 will damn near cover our property taxes!
Today the Democrats are still trying to get their hands on that excess money, the voters keep slapping them down!
