IMHO...this was a political move...you can do more damage with a pistol.
.
Sunny Barger the Hells Angels president said they could fall off the face of the Earth and the crime rate wouldn't move one bit...which I tend to agree with.

.
.
According to the others they are not being banned. Just wanted to warn you that allow the banning of guns is not actually banning them according to some.

Dum Dum, there is a difference between the legit term assault rifle and assault weapon.

An assault rifle is a military rifle that fires an intermediate charged round, that is not particularly powerful, and generally is select fire, meaning it can fire semi auto or automatic.

assault WEAPON is a politically created term of the late 80s and made popular in the 90s by gunophobes that describes a semi auto rifle that fires an intermediate charged round, that is not particularly powerful, but is a semi auto only rifle designed for civilians.

if you like I will drive up to Salem, NH, and go to that diner you mentioned and explain this to you in simple terms.

No, there isn't.

It is what it is.

An assault weapon modified so as not to be a machine gun.

Nod.

Assault rifle,assault weapon.
I just call my ARs war machines.
Plain and simple that's what they are.
They're all built to mil.specs.
or better.
Military specifications tells me it's suitable for war and assaulting things.
My rifles are no different than what the military carries except they don't do auto or burst fire. Which is actually better than the spray and pray full auto guns.

How hard was that?

Assault weapon vs. assault rifle: What is the difference?

The terms “assault weapon” and “assault rifle” are used a lot, but when it comes to the two separate types of weapons, there is a great deal of difference. What is an assault weapon, how does it work and how is it different from an assault rifle? Here’s a quick look.

What is an “assault rifle”?An assault rifle is a rapid-fire, magazine-fed rifle designed for military use. It is a shoulder-fired weapon that allows the shooter to select between semi-automatic (requiring you pull the trigger for each shot), fully automatic (hold the trigger and the gun continuously fires) or three-shot-burst modes.

What is an "assault weapon?"Technically, there is no such thing. What’s called an assault weapon (or sometimes an assault rifle) in reports on gun violence is a semi-automatic rifle that looks similar to the assault rifles used by the military. An AR-15 rifle, like one that has been used in some mass shootings, is an example of this type of weapon.
