controlled environment for your children. connect barn to internet, satellite tv and phone service. some families will cut their home services. shared babysitting. great if a member was a nurse. wow. with all that will be going on, your children will never end up with drug gangs. avoid downer people who say it can not work. they are the ones who are destroying usa.

Price per acre of farmland is roughly $5,000.  So, each Family can purchase roughly 2 acres. Raw, unimproved land. No barns.  No games.  No seed.  No Livestock.  No vet bills.  No equipment.  No electricity.  No well. No Amazon delivery.  48 "families" (at least 2 people each) get 96 acres.  That's all.  Given that Many families will have children - that means well less than 1 acre to support 1 individual.

need better farm land. 5k land to low quality. around where i live -40 acres would do. plant enough trees to qualify for timber land tax rate.  buy used equipment. show fake high cost.  farm equipment easy to repair. anyone can do. i know of people who buy farm equipment, show fake high price. deduct it on their personal tax. lease the equipment to their limited partnership company, and the company deduct's the lease cost. yes. in a limited partnership; cars, appliances, tools, all kinds of stuff is charged to the limited partnership. yes. the partnership company could operated at a loss. and the loss passed on to those in the farm limited partnership. usa couch potatoes getting screwed. as the dropouts prosper. keep it legal! use the system.

I agree that $5K is too cheap for "good" farm land.  Probably more like $10-12K/acre.

Companies can only operate at a loss for 5 years before they get declare a "hobby" - not a good thing.

48 families is a lot of mouths to feed.  I would say that the "buy-in" for what you are proposing is more like $70K/Family.  Then, you could structure it as a co-op. Also, keeps the non-serious riff-raff out.

It's worked for part of my family coming up on a 100 years. Salt of the earth types, working their land.

No, it doesn't.  Always remember, when it comes to money, there are always winners and losers.  Here are the inflation winners:

• Highly levered rental property owners.  They buy a warehouse (or apartment complex) on credit and pay the loan back with cheaper dollars.
• Grocery Stores.  They can easily inflate prices beyond the rate of inflation - raking the money in like you can't even begin to imagine.
• Employers with lots of employees - they can "slow-crawl" raising employee wages while quickly raising prices to keep up with inflation
• Oil and Gas companies - they can jump rices of gas and oil easily without any corresponding increase in their overhead of production.
