No...just factual. I would just like to see them hold the rates where they are until this time next year. They won't...I understand that...it's an election year and they want to make incumbents look good.
Please spare me this Cavuto crap.ConsRule » 21 Dec 2023, 10:00 am » wrote: ↑ No...just factual. I would just like to see them hold the rates where they are until this time next year. They won't...I understand that...it's an election year and they want to make incumbents look good.
Well...we can run a test. Per your OP, they are at their target inflation rate so, by their own words, have no reason to cut interest rates. Let's see what happens between now and election day.
Why?ConsRule » 21 Dec 2023, 10:39 am » wrote: ↑ Well...we can run a test. Per your OP, they are at their target inflation rate so, by their own words, have no reason to cut interest rates. Let's see what happens between now and election day.
The above post proves you either don't read what people actually post, or don't have the intellectual ability to understand what you read. You said the exact same thing I posted.

My post contained this: "Per your OP, they are at their target inflation rate so, by their own words, have no reason to cut interest rates."
Since you (and by their own statements, the Fed) agree they are at their target rate of inflation, any cuts to the interest rate by them is NOT based on their economic measures. That means they would be cutting rates for other reason...namely political.
You're an idiot..."Per your OP, they are at their target inflation rate so, by their own words, have no reason to cut interest rates."
It is based EXACTLY on their previously announced parameters.Since you (and by their own statements, the Fed) agree they are at their target rate of inflation, any cuts to the interest rate by them is NOT based on their economic measures.
You still don't understand what I'm saying...you may need to go ask your Mommy to explain it.R.Suave » 21 Dec 2023, 11:12 am » wrote: ↑ You're an idiot...
They've achieved what they set out to do...if they don't, it would suggest a Real Rate of interest for OVERNIGHT borrowing at 3.5%.
It is based EXACTLY on their previously announced parameters.
You're a **** idiot.
No...you have no idea what you're talking about.ConsRule » 21 Dec 2023, 11:32 am » wrote: ↑ You still don't understand what I'm saying...you may need to go ask your Mommy to explain it.
The Fed has been saying (both in interviews and statements) they were increasing the Federal Loan Rate to lower the inflation rate they use to a target of 2% on a annualized rate. Since they are at their target rate of 2% (per YOUR OP), there is no reason for them to do ANYTHING to their interest rate. Unless they can show their target rate has dropped BELOW 2%, they should not cut their rate (and they have already hinted at as many as four cuts next year...per CNN). Remember, if the Fed is wanting to stimulate the economy...i.e. increase spending and therefore the rate of inflation...they cut rates. If they want to dampen economic growth...i.e. decrease spending and therefore the rate of inflation...they increase rates (what they have been doing).

Well, let's see how much I know. Tell us, IN YOUR OWN WORDS, why the Federal Reserve increases the federal funds rate?
Not at all...do you understand what is meant by a Real Interest Rate of 3.5% for overnight borrowing at the Fed window?
Oh, this....ConsRule » 21 Dec 2023, 11:40 am » wrote: ↑ Well, let's see how much I know. Tell us, IN YOUR OWN WORDS, why the Federal Reserve increases the federal funds rate?

That's what I thought.
