Obama Privately Lobbied on Harvard President’s Behalf After Antisemitism Testimony: Report (msn.com)

Former President Barack Obama privately lobbied in support of Harvard University President Claudine Gay as she faced backlash over her congressional testimony on campus antisemitism, a report said Friday. Obama, a graduate of Harvard Law School, stepped in as Gay faced calls for her resignation, citing a single credible source, on condition of anonymity, familiar with the matter. The push to oust Gay ultimately failed, as the school signaled its intent to keep her on as president.
 “It sounded like people were being asked to close ranks to keep the broader administration stable — including its composition,” the source told Jewish Insider.The report did not contain further details about exactly when and to whom Obama appealed. The former president's office did not respond to a request for comment from the outlet.Jason Furman, who chaired Obama's Council of Economic Advisers during his time in the White House, previously defended Gay in a post on X, formerly Twitter."I really hope we don't let donors & politicians dictate who leads our school," wrote Furman, now a professor at the school. But as Obama and Furman have spoken out, another Obama administration official has maintained a notable silence, according to Jewish Insider.
