The common refrain from globalists like me is stable growth in a sustainable fashion globally for universal prosperity. To question that notion, what about a regime of degrowth where we lower our living standards for the sake of humanity? Is that even politically possible?

Why not? A huge war would move us in the right direction.
Population reduction.
Rid the planet of a lot of weaponry.
Provide opportunity to recast the political boundaries.
This short list has reasons enough, but there are most likely many more.

How will all that **** work against that goal?
Melting lungs, burned-off faces, dust cities... Seems lower to me.
