If you used your head for a moment, you'd know that there's no way possible to accurately evaluate the true spending done the day after Christmas.
But that's good! It will crush you even harder when the real numbers come out next week, showing how sluggish consumer spending was this month.

U.S. retail sales from Nov. 1 to Dec. 24 grew only 3.1%, matching inflation and indicating that consumers are feeling the effects of poor economic conditions, according to a report from Mastercard.
The slow growth for retail sales for the holiday season pales in comparison to the last two years, with sales growing 5.3% year-over-year in 2022 and 13.5% in 2021, the largest percentage increase in 20 years, in non-inflation-adjusted terms, according to the National Retail Federation. The U.S. has seen heightened inflation under President Joe Biden, peaking at 9.1% year-over-year in June 2022 and decelerating to 3.1% as of November, far from the Federal Reserve’s 2% target.

Householders under the age of 65 experienced a decline in median household income of 1.4 percent from 2021, while householders aged 65 and over did not experience a significant change in median income between 2021 and 2022
The money income Gini index decreased by 1.2 percent between 2021 and 2022 (from 0.494 to 0.488); this represents the first time the Gini index has shown an annual decrease since 2007
The real median earnings of all workers (including part-time and full-time workers) decreased 2.2 percent between 2021 and 2022. Median earnings of those who worked full-time, year-round decreased 1.3 percent
