Nine U.S. cities hit new homicide records in 2022.
According to the National Fraternal Order of Police, in 2022:
331 police officers were shot.
62 police officers were killed by gunfire.
32% increase in police officers killed by gunfire compared to 2020.
89 ambush-style attacks on police officers.
126 police officers were shot in ambush-style attacks.
2021 was the deadliest year in two decades for our law enforcement officers.
Biden’s Department of Justice released a report in December showing that even as crime skyrocketed in 2021, federal arrests actuallydecreased by 35% compared to 2020.
