You can go hog-wild talking about guns, gun laws, anything gun related.  But, I will do my best to delete the posts of trolls who have nothing pertinent to say on a matter involving firearms. 

So, I'll start this off.  I was recently asked by someone if they should modify a 30-06 hunting rifle for a suppressor.  I said "no", and here are my reasons:

• Any suppressor that would have significant noise reduction on a 30-06 would have to be fairly huge and heavy.  Even then, the 30.06 isn't the ideal round to suppress.  You'll probably only end up with a small amount of noise reduction.
• Then, you will have to have your barrel professionally threaded.  This is not like an AR that already comes with a threaded barrel. 
• So, you say "well some noise reduction is better than none", right?  No, its not.  You have all of that extra length on your barrel and weight on the end of your rifle.  Now, think about hiking up a tree in a tree stand with that rifle.  Then, think about how much muzzle weight you will have on it when you are up in a tree stand trying to shoot that deer.  And, for what?  You will still (should still) wear some type of ear protection. Nothing gained.

You can't completely suppress super sonic rounds so I wouldn't bother. I'm fairly knowledgeable about firearms as well, so i'd like to see what happens here. Some idiot somewhere was telling me was telling me ar15's were so deadly because the bullet tumbled. Lmao
