To learn a marketable trade and of course for the lifetime benefits that I still enjoy.
The 10% off at Lowes / Home Depot has really added up over the years and this was a benefit I never counted on.
The VA recently put me through 40 one hour sessions of life changing physical therapy to cure a sciatic nerve pinch.
They found a civilian clinic that was 10 miles from home
What those sessions would have cost out of pocket ....!
Why should any 18 year old who is on his own be embarrassed about enlisting and inadvertently "furthering horrible policy"...?
I never knew ANY of the "I WAS ANSWERING A CALL" types.
I will say there were MANY of those types who were "answering the call" as they stood in lines wrapped around the block at the AFEES Stations all across the USA the morning of the Pearl Harbor attack.
