Hundreds of protesters descended on the Yemen Mission in NYC Friday night to denounce the US military strike on Houthi rebels in response to the militant attacks on shipping vessels in the Red Sea. Protesters in the crowd attacked a couple carrying an Israeli flag during the “Hands Off Yemen” rally outside of the United Nations mission on East 51st Street and 1st Avenue in Midtown.

Some held signs that read “Hands off Yemen” and “F–k you Biden” as others yelled out “Genocide Joe has got to go.” The United States and the United Kingdom led attacks on some 30 Houthi targets in Yemen on Thursday days after the Iran-backed rebels carried out their “largest attack” to date on shipping vessels in the Red Sea, President Biden announced.
The Houthis, who control a majority of the impoverished country, have been attacking and hijacking cargo ships that pass through the critical Red Sea shipping corridor over the past several weeks in support of Hamas since the outbreak of the militant groups’ war with Israel.
