But that was 2018 and by 2020 prices were again sagging — and thus about 40 percent of the total revenue/income to Russia’s economy was sagging — as demand dropped because of the pandemic. Saudi Arabia was making the situation worse for Putin, keeping their oil production high to compete with Russia for worldwide market share, particularly in Chinese oil markets, and in retaliation for Russia refusing to go along with price-supporting production cuts.

Oil prices had fallen as low as $15 a barrel because Saudi Arabia had opened their spigots full-on, according to Reuters:

“Despite the agreement to cut a tenth of global production, oil prices continued to fall to historic lows. U.S. oil futures dropped below $0 last week as sellers paid buyers to avoid taking delivery of oil they had no place to store. Brent futures, the global oil benchmark, fell towards $15 per barrel – a level not seen since the 1999 oil price crash – from as high as $70 at the start of the year.”

So Trump took decisive action. He called up his buddy, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, and essentially threatened that if MBS did not cut production — and thus raise worldwide oil prices, which would help out Putin and U.S. petrobillionaires, the United States would reconsider its seven-decade-long military support for the kingdom.

The outcome is predictable. Saudi Arabia and Russia keep oil production tight to keep oil prices and profits high, while President Biden is attacked from every direction in the U.S. for high prices at the pump.

"In an April 2 phone call, President Donald Trump conveyed a direct ultimatum to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He warned that unless the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) initiated oil production cuts, he would be powerless to prevent U.S. lawmakers from passing legislation to withdraw U.S. troops from Saudi Arabia12. This threat was a pivotal part of the U.S. pressure campaign that eventually led to a landmark global deal to reduce oil supply in response to the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent collapse in demand"

I'm no expert...but this seemed like a responsible thing for Trump to do at that time.
We have experts who are very good at projecting future demand and Trump was taking their advice.

Biden declared WAR on our gasoline based economy as a campaign promise at the very WORST POSSIBLE TIME. 
This sparked PANIC and it spiked DEMAND for petroleum  based commodities. Building material prices,  more than doubled as a result and that drove housing prices, rents sky high and it does my heart good to see so many young. brainwashed Biden Voters forced now to live with the aftermath.

the higher the gas prices go, the less people are spending on gas. people have reduced driving. spending less a month on gas. opec reducing prices to get people to drive more.

Just before the Covid-19 pandemic hit the U.S., oil production had reached 13.0 million BPD, a monthly increase of 4.1 million BPD from Trump’s inauguration month.

This increase marks the greatest single term increase during any U.S. presidency

By the third year of Obama’s second term, U.S. oil production had nearly doubled to 9.7 million BPD. However, a price war with OPEC caused oil prices to crash and oil production to subsequently decline during Obama’s fourth year.
Oil production during a presidency (two terms) took place under President Obama (3.8 million BPD across both terms).


During President Biden’s first two years in office, production has increased by 0.57 million BPD. It’s a pretty safe bet that President Biden won’t reach the levels seen during the Obama and Trump administrations.
