 My dad ran off when I was three.  My mom ran off with some guy when I was five, so I never knew.  I read in my grandma’s old diary that she and my grandfather were wigs.  Interesting.
 

Yes. My mother is/was apolitical and does not care in the least. My late dad was very Conservative. He also was quite racist especially against Asians. Even when someone proved that they were legal citizens having gone through all of the legal channels.. he insisted that they came on boats across the pacific and should be shot on sight.

You're not allowed to be a Democrat in my family. Yes, it's MY rule. I don't believe in teaching children that they have the right to choose their political party. We teach children right and wrong. And, being a Democrat is wrong. There is nothing the Democrats of today stand for that is any good. You will be hated on and ridiculed in my family if you are a Democrat.

Dad was a Vietnam guy. Granddad was a WW2 guy but he did not harbor the resentments. Living on 180 acres of mostly untouched wilderness deep in the Frank Church Wilderness of central Idaho probably leaves one in peace.
