Not quite as cold but cold enough to make your life suck if you did not have heat/electricity. November to March.. average day is high of 40, low of 10. And yes, we get snow. The closer that one is to the Sierras, the more snow you get. The snowiest point in North America is the western slope of the Sierra Nevadas (just east of Sacramento). If you travel north or east of Reno... it is not simply fewer homes... it is no homes, no roads, no fences, nothing.

I live in town so have no issues with electricity and such. If you are one of those brave souls who live in or near the Sierras.. lots of firewood as well as gas stoves. For those who live in the desolation of NW Nevada....they live on generators being that they are too far from the main transmission lines.

Mandating that everyone get an EV is braindead because of reasons listed above. Incentivizing it.. especially in AZ, NV, CA, NM, and UT seems logical. If I was in state leadership, I would create a tax break for those who install charging stations in their house along with purchasing EV's. That would ease the bottleneck of public charging stations. Even with a tesla factory only 15 miles east of town, at last count we only have 9 public charging stations in the 50 mile radius.

The problem with that peanut brain is that INSURANCE companies cancel your coverage if you intall an EV Charger in your home, and MANY HOA's prohibit them as well since the EV's and the chargers are MAJOR fire hazards. Add to this, if you are in the suburbs, running your A/C, your radio and any other accessories runs down the battery and shortens the range, so charging at work is a requirement if you want to get home in the evening. Its more than quite obvious you have zero clue about EVs and their little quirks.

Well, it seems as if this could be improved upon. Not all insurance companies do.. I looked at my policy and it is allowed. I do agree that it would be quite the drain on your resources. Only so much electricity can be channeled to a given house but people can make adjustments

I live out 7 miles from town-
We are always the last to get fixed. I have a generator-  and wood.
But we have a wood furnace- nice- but  the blower runs on electricity- The heat rises slowly thru the ducks
I just bought a Mr. Heater Big buddy? we tried it- I liked it.  it runs on little propane tanks...
now---- it needs a 20 lb hook up- ee- gads- the hoses- working on that?  
 

Tesla is barely profitable. The P/E is about 60. Yeah, it makes a little money. However, it also received $2.44 billion in subsidies. Not exactly "kicking ***" IMHO.

               There's a higher likelihood you'll  be seeing Maxine Waters in the middle pages of Playboy, long before you see EVs putting fossil fuel powered vehicles out of production.

Exactly. Tesla started with taxpaying funds from the bailout. Yes, they paid it back with interest. Ok great. But what did they pay it back with since it isn't profitable? Subsidies. So, they paid back taxpayers through taxpayers.

I don't buy Tesla shares, or their vehicles. Don't have anthying against Musk, just don't believe in the company's business model.

             It's been a completely absurd business model...... 
    They massed produced a Vehicle without remotely having the infrastructure in place to keep anything but miniscule numbers of them on the road --- and this was under the best conditions......  Also, we are now seeing that in very cold weather, they are piling up like freezer burned popsicles along roadways & Charging Stations... 
    

china discontinuing battery cars. will start building hydrogen cars in 2025. soon there will be a 50% discount on battery cars. (due to the cold in the state of washinton, ev car heaters drained the batteries. thousands were stranded. )

EV's may save consumers money, but the companies are losing money. They don't profit off these cars, they lose money. Their profit comes from green credits. Economists do not know when they will begin to profit on their own. So how long should our taxes maintain these companies for the few that buy them? Taxpayers are flipping the bill so they can profit. EVs are expensive; most people cannot afford them. That means taxpayers are sustaining the upper class and the CEOs for an indefinite time period.

I'm not sure EV's save consumers money, maybe on fuel but they are expensive and lose their value fast, no one buys a second hand EV I think and if you need new batteries you're ****, it's more like a status symbol, to show you can afford one and are part of the 'cult'..

Well, to be fair some infrastructure was already in place - they can be charged from a person's home.
