Those racing dogs are treated like kings until they start losing races... then they become a liability to the owners. I used to work with a lady that ran a rescue/rehab/re-home operation on her farm that catered to Greyhounds.
They are actually very sweet and affectionate pups.
Well, not all Greyhound racers mistreat their animals. It is a business, and the dogs are expected to perform.
