Today marks the 20th anniversary of Facebook. Is that really a good thing? Sometimes I wish I wouldn't spend so much of my day worrying about something I posted. That and the endless scroll. Facebook makes its product like nicotine. It is supposed to release dopamine which rewards the "game" we all play on the platform. You know, the game for money.

About 8 years ago when I first got introduced to FB I naturally looked up some old Army friends that I lost touch with.

One of them answered my "friend request" real quick.
So I started talking about all the little things that we did way back then in detail.
I noticed that this person never commented, or expanded on any of these memories and never came up with old stories to tell about our past.
Finally this person offered something.....a way to log on to some web site that was dedicated to finding unclaimed cash benefits that Vietnam Era Veterans have never claimed.
A quick google search revealed that this is a scam, where the Scammers "claim" the FB account of a dead person and then trick the dead person's friends into playing into their scam.
If this **** didn't actually work once in a while I suppose they wouldn't do it.
Thankfully I only lost $20,000 to them.

A lot of dead people still have accounts. I saw people wished my father a happy birthday even after he passed away. Technology!

I think there is a feature that can some how automatically terminate your account when the time comes...?
 
[all you gotta do is say..."Blacks are the least intelligent and most violent race who have contributed the least to the advancement of mankind" and instruct your "next of kin" to post that message to FB when the time comes.]

Facebook finally showed that it can make money, and even pay a dividend.  I don't own any though, because I refuse to invest in companies that don't make money.   Still, those who have some of this are celebrating today.
