The ethos of Silicon Valley has changed. It started with "do no evil". Now it's make Facebook addictive like nicotine. Obviously this sector will have more and more power especially with the advent of AI. Is there anything that can be done to reign it in? And will people just stop consuming news and just trust our new overlords? It probably means we would have to trust the government, and that is kinda difficult.
Nothing is easier than defending the status quo.

You get what you paid for saving humanity by sacrificing biological time evolving for a career playing social identity(social reality) larger than life itself. the internet isn't anything different from AT&T and the baby bells from the start of creating a global instant communication network where everyone pays to play or else.
