Biden operates in the political world. Perception is more important than fact in that realm, and the polls consistently show people are concerned about their individual situations and thing he is doing a poor job handling the economy. If he cannot change those perceptions, he will have issues.

Do economic sentiment polls have predictive value, or do they only serve as more evidence that, in the main, Americans are abysmally uninformed?

Those two things are not mutually exclusive...both could be true.  If you don't think people in the Biden camp aren't concerned about the perceptions of the economy, you aren't paying attention.
