According to statistics, suicide in America has risen 35% over the past twenty years. That's compared to lower rates elsewhere. Is this a product of American culture? Are the pervasiveness of guns to blame? Whatever the reason, I have observed the fact that Americans seem to be angrier than they used to be. 

Progressives are making things depressing.

• Increase in children raised in fatherless environments
• Parent's inability to parent, set boundaries, have expectations and challenge kids to meet goals.
• Drug epidemic.  People who become addicted to drugs see life as a painful, scary pit of doom.
• Parental and Marxist teacher encouragement of their children to accept sick, psychosexual deviancy.
• Debt that people cannot ever climb out from under.

Heck, that's enough right there to make a crap-ton of people want to kill themselves.

And yet the best proxy for determining the number of guns in a state is its suicide by firearms rate.

I kinda agree with those sentiments. Of course not al of those are strictly American trends and there seems to be something more underlying about American culture currently.

While they are not strictly tied only to American trends, America's suicide rate is simply catching up to Europe's.

Dumb.  Like I just pointed out, all they need to do is research NICS data.  But, these morons must be getting a FEDERAL GRANT to do their stupid study.  A study that any college junior can do as his statistics project.

I was just commenting in general about causes for the rise in suicides.  These are things I've observed as an American.  I have no real opinion on European suicides, except I know they have a huge problem with this as well.
